I can understand that you want the best possible chance of having a smooth raid, but it is not necessary to have all 30s in the raid to do so.
I have a 30 titan, but have already done hard mode on him so I was looking for a group on my 29 warlock. There were plenty of groups looking for people, but it literally took me over an hour to find one that would accept me simply because they were all looking for 30s. It didn't matter that I have over 20 legit clears under my belt or that I have all the maxed weapons needed to be efficient in the raid; I wasn't getting responses from any of the people I was messaging.
I finally found a group which consisted of 2 30s and 4 29s including me. We breezed through to gatekeeper and only had a bit trouble there because one of the 30s was not comfortable using the shield. When it got to atheon, the 30 admitted he was not comfortable with the shield, so I stepped up. At this point, the two main people to pick up the relic were the first 30 that is comfortable with the shield and me. I ended up being the main person to pick up the relic because the main 30 had gjallarhorn so it was a better move to have him do damage. Even with me being a 29 warlock, I had absolutely no trouble staying alive and taking out the minotour/adds was a breeze.
All I am saying is, give 29s a chance. Not all of them may be as competent and as geared, but how can 29s hit 30 if they can't find a raid to get that last piece or two that they need to be 30? Take a minute to put their GT/PSN into the bungie database and look at their gear. You would easily be able to tell whether or not they are experienced from the number of characters they have, their levels, and how upgraded their weapons are.
Edit: Everyone knows that you don't need to do hard mode to be level 30, but for those that don't want to use an exotic helmet, that is not possible. Yes, you can use the helmet and be thirty before doing hard mode, but there are still people (including me) that have an exotic helmet and still don't have boots/chest/gloves. After running on normal mode without getting the gear needed, the only hope of getting gear the same week would be to run hard mode.

Agreed, first hard raid I ever did was 5 29s and 1 30. To date it was the smoothest run on hard I've had. It boils down to skill, there's not something magic that happens when u hit 30. If your a bad player at 29 you'll be a bad player at 30

This is all a farce my group are all just unlucky to get a full raid set we run 5 29 and 1 30 all experienced with every part and how to use the relic never have a problem on normal beat atheon in 2 times vengance, on hard mode it is just fighting bugs which is the problem when we get a run without them we complete it so all you 30's looking for 30's there is literally no point to it unless your after repeats of all your gear so when trading comes you can be extortionate and the scum of the tower like your already starting to be so whats the harm of taking 3 29 s in to help get them to 30 and then the cycle continues more 30 means less work trying to find one Unless you actually want hundreds of shards, energies and chatterwhite that we unlucky 29 constantly get and we are the envy of the 30's cos they only have a couple of fully upgraded weapons

It comes down to weapons and communication. Always happy to play with a 29. Feel free to add me to run hard raids, or anything else you may want to play. GT PopJoint Level 30 Hunter

2 AntwortenI have a 30 Titan and a 30 Warlock with maxed raid weapons and 20+ clears. It is easy to find a group looking for me. Except for my 29 hunter.
-
As long as their is two level 30s the raid should go okay
-
As long as their is a total of 2 30's in the party I will do the hard raid.... I've finished the raid many times with 4 29's on my team
-
3 AntwortenI've invited quite a few 29s into the raid lately with my group and lately they have been underperforming hardcore. I'm almost at the point of only allowing 30s when we pick up a player. Last night we had a guy afk for no reason not say anything as we were on Atheon. He also died a ton and didn't listen to our cues. For the most part 30s atleast listen and just having that extra levels allows for them to not be perfect. I try and give everyone a chance but it's becoming frustrating

Yea and most of the time its a group of 29's that are looking for only lvl 30's. Any time I get in a group looking for 30's and they are 29's I just leave.

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von slackerboi: 11/19/2014 6:11:53 PMI am a level 29, but will always look for level 30's to raid with. Of course there is experienced level 29's, I'd consider myself one. However, more times than often the 30's will be able to survive longer than a 29. I usually take at least 3 30's and 2 other 29's each hard mode raid, so I don't mind helping other level 29's, but some people are just unhelp-able: they don't listen, don't know about the hard raid, and try to be individuals in a team-based activity. By the time players reach 30 they basically know what they're doing and how to be successful in a raid. Even if they are a bit rusty, their light level helps them do a bit more damage and have a better defense overall. With 29's I still find myself explaining the raid to them at that level. Sometimes when you have a very small window of time during the week to complete a raid, you choose the group that has the least probability of messing up by choosing players that are experienced or at least or a bit stronger, so that it can be done in a short amount of time. Level 30's just reduce the chance of having a bad group at times. It's not hating on level 29's, but sometimes it is just more practical.

10 AntwortenGroups that request all 30's are people that chessed atheon before he was patched. So they suck now and need as much help as they can get!
-
2 AntwortenUsually 29's aren't as equipped or experienced as you. Generally with more than 2 29s (in a level 30 activity mind you) the gatekeeper and atheon take hours.
-
2 AntwortenYou had trouble at the gatekeeper because one of the 30's was uncomfortable with the relic. You, as a 29, knew how to handle the relic. The very fact that you didn't run the relic there proved why 29's don't belong in the hard mode raid. And this is coming from someone who raids hard mode on my 30, but wouldn't think of taking my 29's.

5 AntwortenRan the raid on EASY mode yesterday. We had only one 30 in our group. He died at the first conflux. 30's ain't always all that. On the other hand, earlier in the day running hard mode we had a 30 come in and really save our bacon, because he was cool, kind, helpful, and a badass guardian. So they can be.

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von RoCCa_ToP_SHoTTa: 11/19/2014 3:05:57 PMWas getting a group together to run through normal mode last night before bed... I I have 2 level 30's so ran it on my 29 Titan for which I only needed the boots... When looking for a group I didn't specify any levels, got a 30, a 29, and since all of us were experienced i searched for a newby to the raid. We carried him through and explained everything to him. Its fun showing people the ropes at times, but it can be annoying at others! Just gotta be patient. And for my patience the RNG saw fit to provide me with my pair of boots, 3 lvl 30's finally, one of each class!
-
4 AntwortenI think you could also use a chestplate. Same light lvl as helmets at full lvl I think
-
1 AntwortenI'm level 30 an failed with a full team of 30s. Finally did it with a 28, 2 30s an 3 29s not even joking it's all down to skill an team work
-
1 AntwortenThis is standard practice in MMOs. There are a certain amount of elitists that will only stack the odds in their favor for raids and such.
-
1 AntwortenYeah most lvl 30's are super egocentric dicks about things. Im a lvl 29 hunter and they all wont accept me for my class or my lvl. How stupid is that.

I understand the struggle of being stuck in 29 zone. My lock just got 30 this week and the damage truly does matter. My maxed out icebreaker was melting adds left and right. That being said my hunter needs arms and my poor Titan needs it all but I have every single raid weapon maxed out. It does help if your experienced and not a douche who complains every time a mistake is made by a lower level guy. I'm more than willing to help my fellow guardians reach the big 30 as we all were at that point at one time. Stuck in 29 land. For me it my motto is once we clear atheon you will be more experienced with every role within the VoG. Hell I never touched the relic till I was forced to and now I love the damn thing. To al the level 30s don't get mad, bitch and complain when wipes happen this is the only way others will learn. Be positive and have fun it's only a video game

I've personally have deleted 4 guys this week I have met through the forums who bother me to help them raid with my 30 titan and the moment I load in with my 29 Hunter I get the boot? Two guys claimed help them clear Aetheon hard and in return they will help my hunter do the same as soon as they got rewards player left fire team nice. The other two spammed me while I'm watching a movie with my girl to help which I helped them twice full hard runs and when I asked for help on Aetheon hard no replies.
-
4 AntwortenFrom my personal experience, at least 3 30's is a must. Otherwise it can take hours and be more frustrating than fun.
-
I'm a 30 and carried five 29 through. GG
-
7 AntwortenMy team took a 28 through last night. It's all about the skill. I've breezed through the raid with 2 30's, and had my a$$ handed to me with 4 30's.
-
4 AntwortenSo... you can get all raids gears from normal?
