Sony Slips Deeper into Financial Difficulties
Just for debate - the fact that the most successful consoles financial sponsor is heading into a deficit. What does that mean for future developments on PS platforms if Sony continue to decline in profits?
In comparison to Microsoft which has shown profits year in/out [u]BUT has[/u] made staff cutbacks to its games development subsidiary's, has made a loss on its initial launch of Xbox One and Share Holders are calling for divisions to be dissolved.

Please do not bring the console war to this discussion. This is about what would happen to PlayStation if Sony were to alter its development plans...
For example: " A major computer manufacturer" might buy PlayStation.
And what would that mean for Microsoft?

1 AntwortenHonestly competition is a great thing. It forces better products and better prices. If PS went under or sold out, then I'm sure MS would step up to monopolize on the situation. The only competition is Wii U and PC. The Wii really isn't competition tho.

Sony's game division is crazy profitable, and not all of their other divisions are losing cash. But, the one's that are are losing a ton. They will continue to spin off/sell/reconsolidate the losers. In the end Sony's current financial difficulties means next to nothing for the PlayStation and it's future.

Afaik its the mobile products of sony that is in decline. Sony games are still profitting. In fact, it is their most profitting division this year.

As an Xbone player, I know nothing of the PS4 really. However it'd be a real shame if Sony went out of business. I always laugh when I see an xbone commercial saying at the end "Xbox one, now 349$" and when you realize Sony is in a big problem too it's just not fun to think about. I really hope they overcome this

These are still being posted? Did you even do any research or just blindly post a link you thought was relevant? How many people honestly have a Sony PHONE, all this talk of Sony going into bankruptcy when it's really a small portion of the entire company.

People are forgetting the other monster in the industry. If Sony was ever going to be bought out, I imagine it would be Samsung. Anywhoo, I'm not particularly worried about it, SCEA would cut the mobile division years before they went bankrupt. People who don't have a ounce of understanding of this matter are reading to much into the one projection stating bankruptcy in 5 years. That's like, worse case scenario if they continued downhill and didn't cut any divisions and such. Won't happen anytime soon.

Sony wouldn't have made ps4 and tried to up vita sales if they were forced to file bankruptcy in 5 years as some of you claim.

At this point they are down to deep, with a credit status being labeled junk status just this year. As for ms buying them out that won't happen. Does Microsoft have the money sure but Japan has laws in place to prevent foreign companies from buying out domestic companies, now ms could possibly buy Sony or the ps brand through proxy but I would be willing to bet on a government bailout before that would happen.

Re-read, digest, come back and discuss from the appropriate standing. If anything, Sony is evaluating whether they continue to compete in the mobile department. The SCEA (Sony Computer Entertainment America) is BOOMING in business with some of the largest returns and growth numbers in history. @ the OP - nice job trolling, if that was your goal. Otherwise, l2read and gain some comprehension.

As an xbox one and microsoft loyalist, id hate to see playstation suffer, i believe that in the worst case scenario sony will cut back its other departments and probably just concentrate on playstation. This would be a good thing and would then allow them to make something beautiful out of console gaming.

Playstation sony made profit .. but their other tech ..tvs, dvd players ...walkmans hehe ... probbally at a loss due to people not needing a new one every 5 minutes.. The playstation sony brand is probbally a seperate enitity to the actual sony bussiness much the same way xbox is different to microsoft .. as in bussiness terms anyhow . They have their own staff and whatnot .

18 AntwortenYour not taking into account that they are down as a company that does way more than playstation... the ps4 is the fastest selling highest profit thing Sony has ever done enough so that it's floating the whole company from their decline in tv, cellphone and computer sells... they will go through a reduction and be fine your not a smart person for thinking your post wouldn't ignite a console war ether like seriously not the best way to say things
