We have a project in our class where you have to survive on an "island" for a week or whatnot, and one of the students asked if they could bring an ax. Not to kill people but to cut firewood etc. guess what the teacher said? No because it's "too violent" and threatened the student with detention if he put it on his list of things to take along. I'm so -blam!-ing done with the zero tolerance policy, it's literally poisoning our youth to become total pussies and making them think that if something has a blade it's instantly a weapon and is inherently bad.

3 AntwortenYou can use a pen or pencil as a weapon. I've known real life training, personal events and even movies were these writing utensils were used against eye or throat resulting in death. People are either too worried about being sued or have a very progressive utopian view of the world or both. When people advocate about not keeping score in kids sports so as not to make them feel bad I look at those people and say what will you do when they are 18 years and older and find that they will fail and all their entitlement is meaningless. I have yet to be given a real response. Anyway I feel for you OP. Don't go the way of sheep. Be independent and pragmatic (hope for the best but always have a plan in case the worse happens and another back up plan for that!)
