We have a project in our class where you have to survive on an "island" for a week or whatnot, and one of the students asked if they could bring an ax. Not to kill people but to cut firewood etc. guess what the teacher said? No because it's "too violent" and threatened the student with detention if he put it on his list of things to take along. I'm so -blam!-ing done with the zero tolerance policy, it's literally poisoning our youth to become total pussies and making them think that if something has a blade it's instantly a weapon and is inherently bad.

The teacher must went deaf after he said an axe, and ignored the not to kill but for fire wood part...
-
...Wtf did people choose to "bring"? Anything can be a weapon

Someone at my school got a suspension warning for flicking a girl. :/

Where do you go to school? I live in Texas and talk about hunting(killing animals, god forbid) with some teachers all the time.

1 AntwortenYou can be hateful and racist, but not practical or stylish. GG American public schools.

I always wanted to bring my toys (literally toys) to school when I was but a wee sprout. But them teachers never gave me an inch :(

6 AntwortenIt gets worse and worse. I was first introduced to it in 1997, upon my entry into Hell, I mean, junior high.....point here is that it's nothing new. But still, to threaten him with detention because he thought about bringing an axe to an island, not to kill people but to cut up firewood and stuff? God damn. As for the pussification of students, I won't go into that, because I've shared my opinion of this reality for years now, even if not here on Bungie-dot-net. However, I am a victim of this pussification, and am pretty much assimilated with any and all indoctrination, but also with experience (fighting never solves anything). Despite that, I love guns, and have never hurt anybody, but because I love guns I am automatically a psychopath and must be treated with maximum prejudice. Hell one must think I have contacts with al-Qaeda or other terrorist organizations. Not that I do, but because I like guns, my argument is invalid. I'll stop here.

dude what about sandpaper instead of an axe. surely you could rub through the tree in a couple weeks or so, so maybe we dont need hatchets
-
Well, he might last couple nights before he dies of undercooked food and hypothermia. On the upside there won't be any terrible horrible accidents die to the violent weapon
-
We had to do this thing were a tsunami hits your home and you and your family survived and at this one point the oldest dropped their bad of the side of the rescue boat and if you wanted to you could throw them off the boat too, and the youngest fell down a hole so we took their bag and left them.

5 AntwortenPoint out to them that EVERYTHING IS A WEAPON. anything pointy can be a shank. Anything flimsy have be used to suffocate a fellow student. Anything hard and blunt can be used as a bludgeon. Plain and simple. Not to mention you can pummel and strangle people with your hands. Should you be suspended because you happen to have hands? Wtf is wrong with them, thinking of an axe's primary use being a weapon. Fūkin stupid...

Lol, EVERYONE is just pussies now. They need a good old ass whooping.

3 AntwortenYou can use a pen or pencil as a weapon. I've known real life training, personal events and even movies were these writing utensils were used against eye or throat resulting in death. People are either too worried about being sued or have a very progressive utopian view of the world or both. When people advocate about not keeping score in kids sports so as not to make them feel bad I look at those people and say what will you do when they are 18 years and older and find that they will fail and all their entitlement is meaningless. I have yet to be given a real response. Anyway I feel for you OP. Don't go the way of sheep. Be independent and pragmatic (hope for the best but always have a plan in case the worse happens and another back up plan for that!)
