I get that it's work and you probably want to rush through it like you do with your meals, sex and the rest of life, but this is an opportunity. Learn to be a leader, a teacher, a guardian. I know your in it for the payoff but a quick cheap climax is not the real reward.
I'm not saying you have to all the time.
I'm not saying you shouldn't get a badass group and run the beast down in top gear.
I'm saying don't dismiss it. Adding a few new folks and teaching them the ropes is challenging. The team will probably stumble and fail. You will probably fail and get frustrated. But if you can teach at least one person how to make it through, then they can go and teach one person. Then you'll have a plethora of experienced guardians who are willing to do the raid without fear because they will all have been students and all have been teachers.
Edit: thanks for all the feedback. And let me be clear, I'm not asking for help on the raid, I'm just tired of people dismissing the idea of helping others. Granted, there are some you shouldn't waste your time on, but that's not all.
Also, if you're worried about their skill level, do some strikes and/or heroic missions first. Test their skill level and make a decision.

1 AntwortenYou, my friend, deserve a cookie. Maybe even two. I've been that student and i'm sure i'll be that teacher eventually as well!
-
1 AntwortenI didn't realize I paid 60 bucks to teach you how to play the game... #sorrynotsorry
-
1 AntwortenA guardian is someone who raids. A vanguard is someone who mentors the guardians. 12 raids this week, gotten 3 new people through as well.
-
1 AntwortenShut up and quit complaining. If you really need help, I can help. You shouldn't rely on experienced people helping you. When I first did it, I did it with all inexperienced people who were 26 and 27. Sure it took us like 6 hours to finish the raid but it sure felt good when we accomplished it. You shouldn't complain about higher level Guardians not carrying you. We aren't obligated to help you. Go in and figure out a strategy. All it takes is good communication and a team who is committed to finish the raid.

1 Antwortenbut, if I help people I cant feel like I'm the best player in the game with unique gear only attainable by being a badass like me... then how will I justify all these long hours alone in my basement?
-
Its like any other game. Get friends or a clan if u want to be carried/taught. Get gud if u want to run with the champs . not that hard.
-
1 AntwortenRaids are less about experience and more about competence, I'd take a competent player over an experienced player any day. This is going to be especially true with the changes.
-
1 AntwortenIf they're inexperienced, I ask if they've read the strat at least. Failing that, I ask if they have a mic because I don't feel like typing a book for them. No pre-reading plus no mic equals no effort equals no run.

4 Antwortenwhy would i take shitty people? i have a limited amount of time to play games, why in the hell would i waste some of that on noobs? i don't even take people under 28 for NORMAL raids anymore, even then its only if they're a friend, 29 or 30 or nty otherwise. if inexperienced people want to learn...they can make a team of inexperienced people and learn it.
-
1 AntwortenHonestly, the raid on normal, as long as you are lvl 26, you can be carried easily. It's more a matter of principal. I know you're excited to tackle Destinys biggest attraction and prove yourself, but don't rush into it unprepared. I have never had a problem being helped when I first started nor when new players join my group. The problem is that they want to run a raid that they aren't prepared for. Their AR isn't maxed out or they haven't acquired enough legendaries. You talk about people trying to speed through raids, well a lot of these new players are rushing into raids they aren't ready for. So level up and come back when you are prepared, it's not a matter of teaching them the ropes or skill(point and shoot), it's about having enough damage output and enough armour to sustain damage to be a useful addition to the team.

3 AntwortenNothing is more rewarding than wasting your time for some randoms just to get a pat on the back. The feeling is amazing.
-
1 AntwortenInexperienced people in the normal raid really isn't a problem, its the ones that refuse to use a mic that don't deserve a spot.
-
Once my guy hits 30 I'm going to start joining random raids to aid others.
-
2 AntwortenDid the raid yesterday: Had one guy who didn't knew half of half of it (nope, that was not a double write error)... and he did very well. Why? Because he listened, learned and prospered from it. And it wasn't just me giving him pointers, we all did. New players can learn, it's just who teaches that needs to give the time to teach.
-
4 AntwortenThe gorgon room will be tough for me to teach to newcomers Keep in mind I've only played the raid once and even then still didnt complete it
-
They can learn like the rest of us did, we all where inexperienced at a time, how did we manage to overcome? we got together with other inexperienced people and learned the raid from the bottom up.
-
6 AntwortenIt cracks me up when people don't let inexperienced players in. My response is always yes I'm sure you were born with intimate knowledge of the raid. You were never an inexperienced raider and somebody let you join in and showed you ropes. But honestly the majority of people who won't take players due to inexperience is because they aren't actually that good themselves and are probably being carried by the rest of their raid group. Very rarely are they just THAT much of a douche. Underlying factors are always present. Unless you're trying to join a clan raid, those guys don't -blam!- around and really aren't that fun to raid with anyway.
-
1 AntwortenI love helping out Guardians, whether it's finding the best way through the Gorgon's Labyrinth or looking for Spinmetal in the Cosmodrome. If I ever get enough people, I'd love to start helping people learn the Raid.
-
1 AntwortenI'll teach players what they need to do. However, if they continue to -blam!- up 22 times after the fact, i will bludgeon them to death with a wiffle bat. I'm willing to HELP people with almost anything, but i will not play the game FOR them. I'm also not likely to do the stressful things, like Atheon's fight, without getting something out of it myself. At least when i do Nightfall for people, i have the possibility of engrams dropping. (Raid engram drops are astronomically low, even for greens)

2 AntwortenI just don't like the clueless ones without mics
-
I tried teaching others through my dance moves and pointing! We just end up having a dance-off...
-
1 AntwortenHelping other Guardians is one of the most fun things to do.
-
1 AntwortenFirst paragraph = best analogies ever.
-
3 AntwortenI just don't like the ones that ask me and I ask them if they have ever done it before, then I proceed to explain but instead of listen they just do w.e and get destroyed. I just leave after that. If you aren't going to listen, or even try to understand then I am not going to waste my time. With the new "fix" were any 3 get randomly sent thru, no -blam!-ing way I am going to help randoms, especially first time randoms.
-
1 AntwortenI've been trying to find someone/anyone to help me learn the raid since the raid first opened nobody ever wants to try and help me as soon as I get to where we have to kill the Templar everybody leaves so I've never even seen what's passed it

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von SLATE: 10/18/2014 11:16:09 PMI'm willing to bring inexperienced players in as long as they're at the right level. I can't tell you how much a single level makes a difference. You could have all the experience in the world but if you're one level below the enemy you're going to have a hell of a time. It's just the way the game works.
