I get that it's work and you probably want to rush through it like you do with your meals, sex and the rest of life, but this is an opportunity. Learn to be a leader, a teacher, a guardian. I know your in it for the payoff but a quick cheap climax is not the real reward.
I'm not saying you have to all the time.
I'm not saying you shouldn't get a badass group and run the beast down in top gear.
I'm saying don't dismiss it. Adding a few new folks and teaching them the ropes is challenging. The team will probably stumble and fail. You will probably fail and get frustrated. But if you can teach at least one person how to make it through, then they can go and teach one person. Then you'll have a plethora of experienced guardians who are willing to do the raid without fear because they will all have been students and all have been teachers.
Edit: thanks for all the feedback. And let me be clear, I'm not asking for help on the raid, I'm just tired of people dismissing the idea of helping others. Granted, there are some you shouldn't waste your time on, but that's not all.
Also, if you're worried about their skill level, do some strikes and/or heroic missions first. Test their skill level and make a decision.

As long as the nub does what it's told, has a mic, I'm alright.

I'm totally fine bringing new people (considering I have to since all but a tiny handful stay through it or even want to do it again). The thing I'm not okay with, is not listening or paying attention. If you can't do that, you're gone. Yes, running through a boss and figuring out a proper strategy to utilize everyone fully takes a small bit, but if you aren't trying to learn or keep distracting everyone, I can't keep you on the team.

The way I see it. Why not? We were once inexperienced.

Bearbeitet von Chainshada: 10/19/2014 12:53:25 PMI have 3 characters 27+, I do normal/hard mode with 2 of them in structured, experienced groups, my Hunter I'll just join anyone who's asking..Tonight we had 3 that had never cleared it and I think 1 that had never been inside, sure it wasn't a speed run (I think it was about 2.5 hours on normal)..But we just had to take 10-20secs after every few wipes to explain parts of the encounters. Would go through about 4-5 attempts of others holding the relic before I picked it up. After you know what you're doing the Normal raid is a joke, cleared Normal VoG and Nightfall x3 2 hours after reset this week.

This is how my raid group usually does it, no more then 2 randoms or friends with little knowledge on the raid. That way we can have one guy on our main team teaching the rookies what to do, while the other three make sure things go smoothly. I find that any more then that and it will take far too long and get frustrating for everyone.
-
Im the leader of my usual raid group 3 people are friends of mine and 2 are usually randoms. I have no problems explaining everything in detail everytime (much to the amusements of my friends) and then giving people jobs but certain parts (usually relic based) i either do myself or my friends because both we and the randoms would rather get it done then spending forever trying and failing. The longer the raid takes the more likely it is that people will have to drop out for things. Sad but true. Every successfull raid has always ended with everyone thanking and congratulating me on being a good leader. Unfortuantly once this patch for the teleport comes in i will only be raiding with people i know are capable. This will be because im gonna have to be more careful who i pick incase they cannot cover every role. Its a shame i like meeting new people.
-
I'm sorry but I would much rather clear the raid in 45 minutes than 2 hours. There's groups that will take inexperienced players into raids and there are some that won't.
-
1 AntwortenI do not have a fixed raid group. I post a topic in the clan forums and the first 5 pretty mutch get the spot. As it is its not impossible to beat the raid in a decent amount of time with 2-3 new players every week. If they randomize the teleport stage i will however, stop doing this. I will only be taking the pple that i know are up to the task simply because of the time it will save. I work shifts, more pple dont. If we start a raid at 19h pm. We can finish at an acceptable hour. If i need to get up at 4h am i wont even concider taking in first timers.

Lol. I don't have time in my life to spend more than an hour on this raid. I'm not going to teach anybody how to play it. If people want to learn, they can partner with other n00bs. Somebody had to figure this thing out by themselves.

3 AntwortenRaid on Normal, i can do with my eyes closed. Its a joke. So if you need help with the normal raid its because your weapons and armor are garbage, Your fault. As for the Hard raid, if you aren't level 29 im not wasting my time taking you because your defense is too low and you will die over and over no matter how good you think you are. Skill has NOTHING to do with a Hobgoblin sniping you from a blind side. Then we have to wipe. SO to anyone crying about not being able to raid...Get your gear up to 29. Its not like it takes skill or trade secrets to do it!

I'm willingly to play with new raiders, I love their reactions to everything if they never had a glimpse of the Vault of Glass.
-
Just ran the Raid this evening with 3 Raid Virgins it was a lot of fun. They all listened and we made it through in about 2.5 hours. We had to wipe a few times at Atheon but once the new guys got the pattern down we beat him on the 3rd turn through the portals. It was pretty cool hearing how excited they were to beat it.

Bearbeitet von Hexal: 10/19/2014 7:44:36 AMSorry some people have lives and don't have all the time in the world to teach everything there is to know about the raids and rather cut the risks of wasting time, I don't mine giving tips out but now with randomize porting you got a hell of a lot more teaching and a lot of people don't have time for that.

Bearbeitet von James5955: 10/19/2014 5:01:23 AMI don't mind bringing new people through the normal raid. I've joined friends groups where I knew only them and the rest were randoms, and 3 or more people havent done it, then leaded and guided them all through it. I've done that at least 3 times now... But it's taken a toll, I prefer to do it with 4 experienced people at least, and up to 2 inexperienced so that it's still not going to take a long time to complete and isnt as frustrating and not as many people are making mistakes. It's a good thing to help you find more people to do raids with incase you have 3 characters to do it on, and your main group doesn't do the raid 3 times within a week. However after you get more contacts than you need for the raid I feel like the need to show others the ropes for it is gone.

They satisfaction and screams of joy down mic when taking fresh people through is worth the couple of wipes you have along the way, Teach, Learn, Be Brave

3 AntwortenBearbeitet von DevilStarr: 10/19/2014 2:11:41 AMour clan takes fresh people through all the time. we usually take 3-5 clan members fill the rest with new people and teach each encounter the proper way. it's amazing how horrible the new people's horror stories are. lmao. They are always grateful for the help. Some decide to join us, some we keep on hand as subs for groups, and some we never see again. It's just fun to see their reactions when the get that clear. Nothing is better than that.

This is a great point I have only been through the raid one time and it was with my clan I still have alot to learn and alot to improve on and am willing to give what little knowledge I have to help others my clan was very organized and I held my own once I got to each checkpoint they would stop explain and then execute they would tell me what I needed to do and what was to be expected and it took what could have been a horrible experience and made it very enjoyable again like I said I'm by no means an expert but I will gladly join in and help anyone to the best of my abilities

+1 People take note.

PS4 : JudgeDredd2970 Never done the raid and am anxious to learn (25 Titan / 24 Hunter) as I find getting raid-quality gear a real challenge. Anyway, if you're looking for someone to team up with, just let me know. I have a mic and a good attitude (I burned out my bad one playing Counter-Strike and WoW). :)

1 AntwortenThe real issue is people thinking they know everything about the raid when they have done it once maybe twice. I have completed the raid on both normal and hard a bunch of times. I know what needs to be done in each position in the raid. Coaching one newbie what to do when during the raid is not hard. It comes down to the following however: lvl and gear can be both important and pointless. Meaning some people are good at shooters and understand the concepts quickly, helping them is easy even if they are a lvl under the recommended level for the raid. Other players however can have lvl 30 gear, and good guns and can still be utter shit. Honestly it is quite entertaining watching the players on twitch try and struggle to do the raid. The raid is not hard, you can only make it hard on yourself by trying it under leveled. This is a major deal in the raid as damage is based primarily by level first so if you are under leveled you are going to do a highly reduced amount of damage. So with this knowledge be smart and think the more people we have under the required level for the raid the harder it is going to be. In my opinion it is a complete waste of time to go in with someone under the recommended lvl. Anyone who thinks i'm full of shit can go check my raid stats. If you truly do not have anyone to raid with reach out to the many clans/groups out there who are competent enough to raid. Do NOT try to get a random group together. A completely random group of people doing the raid is going to end badly. If you are not level 26 do not even try the raid. If you are not level 29 do not try the hard raid. I am not saying it is not possible to complete the raid as a lower level I am saying it is a waste of both your time and the rest of the raid party's time.

3 AntwortenI stopped when I got to the part where you related video games to sex. Clearly, it explained how valuable your post was going to be.

6 AntwortenI don't mind helping people learn the raid. We all had to learn at some point and probably went through a lot of frustration to do it. I've run more people than I can remember through nightfalls, weeklies, and raids. If you have not done the raid and would like to I will run it a few times tomorrow as time allows. Please have a mic, preferably 1 void damage weapon (a fusion or sniper really helps), and a good attitude. Respond to post with PSN name, level, and class. This will be a normal mode raid obviously so 27-28 is a good idea. It's certainly possible to win at 26 but it's tougher. Depending on how many people respond I may sub in people from friends list and clan. I will try and start the first group around 10am est tomorrow (Sunday).
-
I would help new people run it now and then by now I have seen the error in my ways. Next week hotfix will mean doing athoen with a new team is long time consuming and pointless.
no I am not talking about the knocking of the edge, but the random portal teams
The other reason is that we don't want a lot of level 30 running around. Less there are the better it is.

With the changes they are making to raid more and more people are going to be avoiding inexperienced raiders and sticking with experienced guys. Blame bungie

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von Ryuuchi: 10/19/2014 1:53:42 AMSomeone was going to invite me but I wasn't able to get an actual invite whatsoever. I've always want to do the Raid and and I still am. I guess they thought that I'm not up to the task. At this rate, I'll probably just give up even wanting to try out the raid.

1 AntwortenI appreciate this post. I've never completed the raid but would like to. I can also understand people who don't want to do this. It's their perogative. Some people have the patience, some don't. There's nothing wrong with that.
