I get that it's work and you probably want to rush through it like you do with your meals, sex and the rest of life, but this is an opportunity. Learn to be a leader, a teacher, a guardian. I know your in it for the payoff but a quick cheap climax is not the real reward.
I'm not saying you have to all the time.
I'm not saying you shouldn't get a badass group and run the beast down in top gear.
I'm saying don't dismiss it. Adding a few new folks and teaching them the ropes is challenging. The team will probably stumble and fail. You will probably fail and get frustrated. But if you can teach at least one person how to make it through, then they can go and teach one person. Then you'll have a plethora of experienced guardians who are willing to do the raid without fear because they will all have been students and all have been teachers.
Edit: thanks for all the feedback. And let me be clear, I'm not asking for help on the raid, I'm just tired of people dismissing the idea of helping others. Granted, there are some you shouldn't waste your time on, but that's not all.
Also, if you're worried about their skill level, do some strikes and/or heroic missions first. Test their skill level and make a decision.

I lead a group of new folks into the raid the other night and felt really good. It was really cool to be able to help folks learn the ropes and teach them things.

4 AntwortenYour post is shit, I've tried to help multiple people last night I had a lv 27 trying to tell me how to play and beat atheon I had a guy trying to open portals by literally standing on top of them. With some people it's -blam!-ing impossible

3 AntwortenI had been through normal 4 times and hard once, but had never been leader. One time while chilling in the tower, I received an invite to a group of 5 27/28s to do the finale. I joined in being a 29 with free time and nothing to lose, but soon realized what they really needed was a coordinator. After taking the role, giving constructive feedback for every wipe, and providing moment to moment coaching, we prevailed. Several got weapons and even a sparrow, but I think my reward was greater than an empty loot stream. A wave of excited thank you's from the 1st time conquerers is irrereplaceable. On a side note, I don't think it would have been possible if time stream was randomized because as the leader I had figured out who was best for what job and had fine tuned the ragtag machine of a group to be successful.

1 AntwortenI get alot of random invites to do the raid and I usually help out. Well, yesterday I got one and I thought why not... well, no one except 2 people had a mic, and they spoke mexican. I got them through the Templar and after a while of watching dumbass's run around the gorgon cave with no clue what to do I quit.

i had been doing this, sometimes i get pretty mad, but i remember that someone did the samething for me in the first place.
-
Heh, I would try to help but I suck myself

3 AntwortenLearn to join a clan. Casual players aren't welcome into raids, even in LFG. You seem butt hurt.

4 AntwortenI've been helping people do the raid all week. I know that lower levels want to do it, but if they have no experience at all a good rule of thumb is to not bring them if they're below level 27 and if they have some experience level 26. It's the only way you won't spend 3-6 hours in the vault explaining things. Feel free to hit me up on PS4 if you want to do the raid sometime next weekend (First time or Fiftieth)

3 AntwortenI always help newbies. By the way anyone want my help I'm on a ps4: ElusiontheNinja.

1 AntwortenIve helped plenty of ppl. I think i am done with that now. My question to you is, are you going to pay me something to compensate for the frustrating 5+ hours i spend?
-
3 Antworteni already get frustrated with a solid team, not going to throw more gas on the fire so some noob can learn how it goes. basically all raidnoobs want to do is 'hey guise can you help me throw off atheon on hard pls?' if thats how you want to beat the raid you can go do it with other simpleminded idiots.

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von med: 10/19/2014 5:34:45 PMA couple things of note: First let me preface by saying I have been a member of the most famous/known MMO guild since 1998 (Fires of Heaven) and the EQ days. Since then and after Furor left I have taken up the reigns on leading several iterations of the guild when our members wanted to come together. I bring this up for one and only one reason: Because your attitude is the exact type of attitude that I, when I was in a leadership role, would have been more than happy to include and indoctrinate into the guild. Point being that true high end guilds/clans and not pretenders or those who have convinced themselves they are something they are not tend to gravitate toward recruitment of people who are easy to get along with/share similar opinions/are enjoyable to be around but, at the same time, can be molded into learning encounters & executing at a high level. Of course this doesn't always work out but, more time than not, it has. The problem is (in your case) that Destiny is not like traditional MMO's in the manner by which power groups will either recruit or bring people in. For example, I have absolutely no need to bring in anyone else unless someone quits the game because my group is already a working machine and 6 people is a small amount. In other words, it becomes a limited spots for many requests type of situation in Destiny allowing those of us who have no issue with whatever is thrown at us to flourish and those who cannot find a similar guild/group to flounder and not be able to do anything in terms of end game material. If I can make a suggestion it is that you yourself work on both your knowledge of the encounters, find a way to form/mold your own group and go from there. There are many people on this forum that will likely be in your position and have found it difficult to find groups of like minded people. You just have to find them by advertising it, bringing people in, are not afraid to dismiss someone if they do not pan out, and finding yourself an enjoyable yet skilled group of people. In any other MMO with raids I, personally, would have given someone such as yourself a chance but in Destiny it simply doesn't work that way given the content and raid number. Obviously this post is not meant to prop myself up but, rather, that I prefer to use examples when responding to someone instead of not doing so. That said, I wish you the best of luck and hope you can find what you are looking for.

Yep give them a test. I mean the online matchmaking is restricted to only those who can pass the test. It is the standard. When purchasing it said pass a test first.

1 AntwortenIt's ridiculous that people in this community don't provide help. How did you learn to do it probably from other people who watched a video of the first people that did it?
-
1 AntwortenThere are people who actually have a real life. They want destiny as a hobby but do not want to spend all their spare time on the game. That is the main reason why i always run with the very same team, the very same tactic and finish the whole taid (easy and hard) within an hour. Destiny is repetive as -blam!- and we need to play everything over and over again so why no just quickrun the shit out of the game? Fix the templar platforms. As if we could care less .. eploit the big stones and steps beside the edges. Oracle buffing? Lol yeah. We just sit at the spawning point and ICEBREAK the shit out of the game. Annoying templar? Yeah sure. Why shoot his shield down if you can just push him off with grenades? The templar tries to teleport. It failed. Fix the teleporting? Yeah we use 6 warlocks. Atheon keeps on falling. Bungie there is no way you could ever get ahead of players.

This is really a select few. I run with inexperienced players all the time. A couple of guys who are experienced usually join me. That way we can keep an eye on everyone and tell them what their doing wrong. But due to limited time and more games coming out this will be less frequent for me. If they allowed the raid to be done multiple times per week, maybe. But until I get rewarded for that time I'll spend that time in borderlands instead, or whatever game currently captures my interest
-
How about no. With the new update i will not team with anyone under lvl 29; for normal and hard. -blam!- that, and -blam!- Bungie.
-
The chain don't get stronger than its weakest link. You my friend are what we call a weak ass link.
-
Everyone is new at some point. I'll help the inexperienced any chance I get. I'm not greedy. Everyone, including us casual adults, can experience endgame content.

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von PhiniusGestor: 10/18/2014 4:35:09 PMNice post. And I think well said. Gaming seems to have gotten - I don't know - way too serious and aggressive. Speeding through to get the prize, a wide apparent lack of respect for diversity, and a penchant for using "grow up" as a solution. OTOH, I come across posts like the ones in this thread, and it makes me feel there are still many people out there with a decent (IMHO) approach to playing a 'game' for what it is meant to be, and that is - above all - fun.

The purpose of Network Of Help clan - help...period!

Bearbeitet von butthurt: 10/19/2014 3:36:12 PMI always help people that have never done the raid even tho I might of done it the week

I always run the raid with randoms. I may not be the best raider but i know what to do and i do it well. With the new update im looking for a solid team/clan for PS3 because killing Atheon is now completely impossible with randoms.

As long as the nub does what it's told, has a mic, I'm alright.
