I've been gaming since I was 5 years old. I'm 32 years old. I've played every system you could think of and some you probably couldn't think of. For the past 27 years I've seen so many different changes. Some great, some not so much.
The one change that kills me the most is the community. I agree that there are mistakes and problems with Destiny. But the way I've seen some of you guys (or girls) post or talk about Bungie/Activision is just outrageous.
But it's not just in forums. The way some of you act and speak online is seriously disturbing. If you want to call me old and troll and make fun of me go ahead. I know it's going to happen. I don't care.
But if my parents knew that I talked and acted the way some of you do they would beat the piss out of me on principle alone. And the thing is I would let them.
Rome wasn't built in a day. If you couldn't tell in Beta that this game wasn't going to be perfect then you aren't much of a gamer anyway.
Quit the cussing. Grow up. And actually think of some constructive criticism.
Edit 1: I'm not saying that you don't have a reason to be upset. And I'm not saying you shouldn't voice your opinion on here. Feel free to say what you want. Say whatever you want about me. It doesn't bother me. I'm not going to get mad or hate anyone for what you have to say. I'm just appalled at the way the gaming community has changed. Some of you say i need to get with the times and get used. Well DLC is the times now. So get used to it.
Oh yeah and I know Destiny isn't Rome. It was a freaking metaphor.

This game really needs a function to disable aim-assist...

"Bungie doesn't need people to defend them.. DeeJ has stated this many many times lol" That's no excuse to rage and be mean to other people. I bet most of the guys talking shit and hating on other people on this forum, wouldn't even dare to look you in the eyes outside of the internet. The problem is that people see the internet as a safe-spot to say whatever they like. And it's really sad that most of the people choose to say hateful things, instead of actual criticism.

The things is that there is so much bug and not a word from DeeJ i would like to know when they are going to fix the SOUND GLITCHING in Vault Of Glass and when they are going to FIX the '' This Weapon Can be Fired In Full Auto Perk '' witch stops Randomly firing in full auto its like we don't even know if they are aware of these issues or other issues players have come by.....

Internet Anonymity allows anyone to say what they want, knowing damn well they could never even look someone in the eye outside of their internetwebforums.

I hear you man. I've personally watched the gaming communities go to sh$t. 34 years old here and watched the same thing happen.

Right there with you OP. Instead of ranting in a terrible and foulmouthed manner, why not try and support posts that you agree with. When a bungie mod sees a thread with 1k replies/comments, they will take note. To whomever recently posted about the current gaming industry trend, I too am concerned. The sad fact is that i have faith that bungie made the original destiny story much longer...possibly to encorporate DLC 1 & 2. I firmly believe they were told to break it up into parts or lose funding. Bungie IS gamers making games, but that doesn't mean they have massive reserves of cash either. Moral of the story here is write to Activision and tell them to let bungie fly. Do work to get results.

26 been playing since i was 5. i know what you mean but games have changed too. games once had thought and well thought out design; simple and sweet. and i know where you are coming from with the community thing. i was taught (somewhat) that if you dont have nothing nice to say then dont say nothing at all. however, this newer generation are allowed to run amok. they will have to learn or they will find some that will not tolerate their B.S. also, the "game" has changed a bit. games once were considered entertainment; now they are an art that has become product within seconds of the transformation. some people see the line blur too much now a days. remember what E.A. did to mass effect 3? nobody wants that again. so, when people begin to complain about destiny their is some merit behind it and it can be seen and i understand where they come from. i seen the reedit topics on the story that has been taken out. overall, dont stress over i have had to learn not to do that again with a game. warfarme has taught me so much about games....and dont even get me started on sega please...

I've only been internetting for like 15 years or so, but the internet hasn't really changed in that time. If the gaming community has shifted since you were a young'un, then it did so a long, long time ago. Realistically, you're being nostalgic in ways that don't make sense because you don't have a clear memory of the past. People have been singing refrains about the "good ol' days" for thousands of years now. It's the same silly cognitive bias at fault all this time. If things were so good before, they never would have changed.

Must admit, I'm the same age and your post made me laugh...in a good way....same stuff, yadda yadda yadda but I've been having a bunch of trouble with the game. I think you're right. I brought it up with my CC company and they said they'd go to bat for me so I've left it at that. I was in an accident so I bought the game as my entertainment for the last few weeks and although the discon's have been infuriating, the game has been fun. The problem from my perspective is not Bungie but Sony. They sold me the game knowing that a percentage of people were having problems. From what you are saying you'd agree that they should let purchasers know they may have a problem. I have no problems waiting for things to be ironed out but when the expectation is different, then I have a problem. ...On the other hand I kinda get what you're saying....perhaps the expectation for all these games going forward is that they will not work properly for the first few months and if you want to purchase it immediately, buyer beware....but if that's the case, be up front about it....

As an "older" gamer I understand. One thing you need to take into account is that games and the gaming community evolve, not always in a positive way though lol. There are many nice people who play- far more than those who act like jerks and trolls. The trick is to focus on the positive people and ignore the (insert profanity here)- just like real life. All the best mate, Bungie has made an awesome game- enjoy it!. Peace. OZ SHARMAN.

Well said sir! Cheers!

Lol you guys are ridiculous. DeeJ is one of us. Why can't he be sarcastic and have a light hearted OBVIOUS troll post? This is the internet, he's trolling the post, his comment is sarcastic but you can't hear it because it's text. Use your eyes and common sense.

Bearbeitet von cirrandecours: 10/17/2014 4:10:03 AMAm I the only one who took DeeJ's comment as not a directive but an explanation as to why the OP finds so many posters on here infantile? I.E. you post infantile things until you grow up? Cirran

1 AntwortenAgreed. So many foul-mouthed, angry, disrespectful brats. It's cowardly... The things written in these forums. No one would say anything of the severely negative things to a person's face, but boy do they go nuts spouting it out online, hidden by a keyboard. It's so sad to see how devoid of common courtesy and respect so many people on these forums are. What's wrong with so many people that they feel the need to be so vicious to each other? IT'S JUST A GAME. No one is threatening your lives! Be humane, be polite, have some common decency; just be tolerant and be nice.

1 Antwortenyouv seen nothing my freind, did you ever play runescape when it first come out, when the first max smithers hit 99 smithing? bluerose13x? hundred of hundreds of people begging for free stuff BEGGING following and spamming free gp plz FOLLOWING people for hours, and when you gave free stuff away they demanded more, and turned on you if you didnt, the worst in human behaviour was represented in the desperate chase for free stuff

DeeJ, This is the only time I'm going to give you free PR advice. If you don't have anything constructive to say keep your mouth shut. Handling player communication is a hard thing to do, even when giving it proper thought sometimes things said turn out badly and often impact negatively on the company you represent. Please keep in mind that without players there are no Games nor game companies. PR nightmares are expensive...

Fellow 32 old school gamer here. I cheated on Duck Hunt by putting the light gun on the tv. Drove my brother insane..lol. I agree on most of this post. Me and my son both play on xbox 360 now.

Agreed man!!

Dude, it's the internet. People act like arseholes , troll for amusement and take on different personas when they're hidden behind a keyboard and a veil of anonymity.. Take everything people say with a grain of salt.

4 AntwortenI'd have to question just how much of a gamer you've been in your life. I'm a year younger than you and grew up with the sega master system (I still have it) and played PC games even earlier than the Oregon trail on floppy disk. I've played text based games with no graphics. The gaming community has never changed. This is how every forum I've ever seen acts. You only see less of these posts you're disturbed by when the moderation runs a tight ship. I would recommend that you simply ignore forums all together because war never changes.
