I bought Gjallahorn, Suros, Red Death, AND Icebreaker... I earned them.
EDIT: I fixed the thread up a bit. Came off a bit too aggressive than I intended.
I am a collector of sorts and I found that collecting these exotic weapons have a certain special place in my heart.
No, I did not "earn" these through RNG (which is not earning at all).
In fact buying these from Xur is much closer to 'earning' than getting lucky with an RNG drop from crucible after bottoming the list.
Using dozens of coins I have 'earned' from the daily story AND the weekly heroic missions is more true to earning these exotics than being the ONLY one in a raid group of 6 lucky enough to pull an exotic weapon out of VoG.
I have earned my shit through hours of playing these story missions and weekly heroic strikes.
Oh you found your Icebreaker as a drop running patrol missions on Mars? I call that LUCKY.
I bought a gun with 17 strange coins saved up after playing Heroic and the story missions when available.
I call that 'Earned'.

So what do we call the people who get Exotics from Bounties? Just curious. There seems to be a lot of animosity between RNG and Xûr (or Xür? I don't spend enough time with him to know). My question is: Is there this same animosity towards those who received and completed Exotic Bounties?

12 AntwortenUh, who cares? You can only use one at a time either way. Besides, weekly strikes on lvl 28 earn you 9 coins. Do that with 3 characters and you have 27 coins in less than a day.

Not a damn thing. I have all of those, and bought all of them except Gjallahorn. Either way, we both have the same equipment and we can both kick ass in strikes and raids. All the more power to you. ^_^

I have 5 exotics at the moment :- Red Death and Ice Breaker which i bought from Xur, Pocket Infinity from the exotic bounty, Monte Carlo from an engram (blue from the postmaster which turned into an exotic) and Suros which i got from the Nightfall strike (should still be available for those which don't have it). For me it doesn't matter how people get the exotics ,,, they all have to be earned one way or the other.

8 AntwortenDid you buy the Suros automatic gun from Xur or do an exotic weapon bounty? I bought an exotic helmet from Xur and currently trying to complete an exotic weapon bounty. Probably won't get it done for another week though cause I have to do any 25 strikes.

I'm a bit of a collector too. I have bought a lot of exotic weapons (I've only dismantled bad juju because I hated it) and still want to get more. I have hard light, Suros, ice breaker, invective, universal remote, red death, and MIDA multi tool. I hardly use any except the ice breaker (got it from the raid) and use legendaries for my primaries and heavies.

Maybe even patrol Venus and see if any lvl 24 guardian is trying to solo the Vault of Glass again and eat some popcorn if he ignores my advice on how to beat it.
