If Destiny takes place way in the future, after the Golden Age of mankind, where we achieved technological brilliance....why do all the rusted cars look like they're from 1998?

8 AntwortenBearbeitet von Kaedis: 10/8/2014 2:42:03 PMIf I am a Guardian, who exactly am I guarding? I hardly ever see anyone but other Guardians. Why am I being isolated from the people I am supposedly protecting? Am I not to be trusted? Am I despised by those who survive by my efforts? Should I be considering that there may be viable reasons the Darkness wants us exterminated? Why are the vendors uninterested in buying any of the lost tech I recovered from the wastes? Why is destroying these artifacts, (as these weapons and spaceships should be considered), my only choice? If this fight has been going on for some time, why are there no human outposts on any planet save earth? Yes, yes, there is the asteroid belt, but considering I am only allowed to visit one place, they don't exactly want me around either, even if I am one of their people. If the Traveler is so mysterious, why has no one thought to go out and look inside that big, crumbling ball hanging over the city? If there is a good reason, why haven't I heard it? Talk about avoiding the elephant in the room..... How am I supposed to see these aliens as evil when I have never personally seen them commit an evil act? The worst thing I have witnessed is them trying to kill me, and considering I am butchering them by the thousands, this is a bit understandable. If the fight is so vital, why do all the people relaying the history of it to me seem so bored? Considering how long I have to grind to obtain levels of trust with vendors, which evaporates the moment I buy something, and considering how I built trust levels with the Queen only to watch it crumble to dust once the "event" was over, why do I keep getting the feeling Destiny is trying to convince me that gaming itself is pointless? Why should I strive for these vendor levels when they are so hard to achieve, yet they gain me so very little? Considering all of this, would a better name for Destiny have been Apathy? Or perhaps Entropy?

8 AntwortenBearbeitet von TeKnoVKNG23: 10/8/2014 7:05:18 PMI'm thinking the Golden Age is largely a lie. Whether or not that gets revealed at some point I don't know. I just find it kind of funny we've supposedly been dead for several centuries, yet all the tech you come across in game from the past looks strangely like stuff from 2010. Also several hundred years in the future and still using conventional weaponry seems a bit of a stretch. You would think hunters would have a more advanced knife than something you could buy for $20 at Cabellas right now, lol. There is a lot that really isn't well explained in this game, like why humans are even still alive. The Traveler is dormant and the Fallen, Hive, and Cabal have all been shown to have superior tech when it comes to space travel. The Fallen and Hive ships can just warp in wherever they want cutting through space and time, yet somehow they are letting humanity just chill in their "last city" when they could easily breach the walls and destroy us. Same goes for the Cabal who are just chilling out there playing with moons like they are juggling balls. Then you have the Vex, who could just teleport in somewhere in huge masses and wipe us out. Humans need "warp speed" just to get to the moon, which I find kind of hilarious given that we can "transmat" stuff like the teleporters worked in Star Trek, yet we need warp engines to get to the moon. There is something here that isn't being told to us because nothing really adds up. Whether that got cut out with the stuff Bungie/Activision decided to pull from the game, or it will be told to us somewhere down the road, who knows.

Because mankind was more focused on making an age "Golden" . They probably thought that model of car can be massed produced more cheeply, effiecntly, and meet better safety standards then the Hollywood Idea of "Cars of The Future" that has been ingrained in everyones mind. Also those cars have been sitting there for centuries and every little part in those cars have been picked clean by the Fallen. We have no idea how they orginally looked in mint condtion.......... so chill brah
-
Well if you look at the development of cars in Russia its the same car for 60+years lol exact same.
-
Let me put it this way in this day and age why do we still have undeveloped countries with outdated vehicles and homes could it be money, politics, religion, or resources.

Fictional universe case solved

1 AntwortenIt's Russia. That is the way Russia looks now. Dont you ever watch those Russian car wreck videos?
-
6 AntwortenI think the main question must be - what the hell happened to the gravity on Moon, Mars and Venus? :)
-
Why mess with the classic beauty of those cars?
-
Because Bungie prefers to make the future look as non-futuristic as possible. For example, vehicles and scenery in the Halo universe look fairly modern for the supposed age it's set in.
-
Probably because Marty McFly went to the future ...
-
No sh*t right ! Said that in the Beta , like Pintos and such ...
-
1 AntwortenYou will understand it in the 4th DLC.
-
Because it's a video game and it can if it wants to

7 AntwortenWhy are there no animals roaming around? Have we been forced into veganism by the darkness and the only way to reclaim meat is to defeat it? Because that's a cause I could get behind.
-
Cuz it's in Russia
-
You are taking the rpg a little too far
-
Because as much thought went in to that creative decision as the rest of the game.

2 AntwortenFashions change. Look how big the 80's are right now. Must have been a big swing towards retro before the collapse. Case, solved. :)

Because it's Russia. In real life, they're still waiting for DVD players...
