I don't think it will. Call of duty has been on top for years.

CoD will be on top because of the fanbase and kids. The thing is it had a LOT of contenders. Halo 3, Battlefield, and even Titanfall. Honestly I loved Titanfall and saw it as the better arcade shooter but it wasn't multi-platform and there is quite a bit of complaining on the story and lack of content. Destiny however, I can see as the CoD killer potentially, but again, CoD's fanbase is just to great....and I hate CoD...

Technically, Destiny is bigger than COD. Will it get more sales? Probably not. But Destiny is a revolutionary game that a lot will enjoy and i know i will. Its the first game of its kind. An FPS mixed in with RPG and MMO elements. Its a game where gamers of all aspects can enjoy. I enjoy FPS, i enjoy RPG more, but i enjoy MMO even more. So with all three of these aspects, its a game i find superior to most and a lot can agree with me. Then throughout the ten years there will be a Destiny 2 3 and 4 for a total of Four games. Thats huge! Being the first of its kind, people are going to be new to its feel. But eventually COD will die down and Destiny will open up.

Couldn't care less. But if Destiny isn't bigger it is only a matter of time. Once you get into this game you will play it no matter about your history of CoD I think.

Cod is a game you play when you have nothing else to play, it's not even that good. It like a game most people get to meet people online to make friends

CoD sucks. Personally I've only played a couple of them for a few hours each but that's all I needed to know I didn't like it. The whole game is just about who sees who and pulls the trigger first, 2 bullets later the opponent is dead. I've also watched people who were supposedly good at CoD that streamed and it seemed like over half their kills were from walking into room and just waving their gun at a target with the trigger pulled. I just don't think CoD requires any level of skill. Whereas in Destiny, from my experience, it doesn't matter if someone sees you or shoots you first if you're a more skilled player you can easily turn the tables and kill them. Destiny>CoD

Guess what...Destiny is not COD! Nor has Destiny ever tried to be COD, It's not even the same class of game as COD. Only similarity is it's an FPS.

I'm fine with that. But why bring it up? Been seeing quite afew "Destiny won't be better than______" threads. Ever see those entertainment sites that tell you how many millions a movie makes in a weekend? Alot of them clear millions of dollars, but are considered failures because the millions more. Or they didn't made that much more than it took to make. They do the same with game sales; if it sells millions of copies you'll hear about it. But they don't take a survey of those that are happy with their purchase, nor do they say how many sell their copies. Nope, only review scores and total sales. Same with the movies; sales and critics. People say Destiny is overhyped; but what game isnt'?.After playing the alpha and beta I still like the direction it's going. Will it sell millions? Probably. So it will be successful. People will like it. If you need to reassure yourself that your favorite game remains the "biggest/best" you're wasting your time. Before long you'll find another game you like and will look back and say "Why did I like that game?" I remember when I thought Mario Bros was best game ever. Nothing would top it. Yeah, something topped it. Then something topped that. It's silly to take pride in a game's popularity as fame is fast in fleeting. Like a fan girl going after boy bands it's rather tiring. Saying you like COD better than Destiny is a better statement. tl:dr: It won't be as big (size) as CoD simply because they've only planned 3 games. :p

As much as I prefer Destiny to CoD, as a voice of reason I'm inclined to agree. As bad as we might all think CoD is we'll still buy it. I won't lie and say I don't enjoy CoD. It's multiplayer isn't really my thing but Extinction was good fun and I'm not seeing all the problems with it's campaign, in fact I'm anxiously waiting for Ghosts 2 just to see where the story goes. Not saying Destiny will never outsell CoD because it very well could. But right from launch day I highly doubt it. I guess we'll see though.

So you felt compelled to share this with the destiny forum? And I disagree with it being on top for ten years...maybe in your book, but I'm sure in the last decade Halo stole a god deal of the limelight from COD. Plus this game's sphere of influence will reach out to both the shooters & the rpg-ers. COD can't claim the same.
