This is long. Skip to bottom at last paragraph if tldr.
Let me start by saying that this game looks amazing. The graphics are, obviously, off the charts. The car/vehicle selection is incredible, and the Top Gear presentation is impressive and I love it. Also, I enjoy having to put in some type of work to obtain higher-end cars.
Now on to business.
I bought this game because I'd heard that it was a Sim. It's not, at all.
I have to play with no assists in order for the raw gameplay to feel realistic. Which makes sense, but that's not the problem.
The career mode, first of all, is garbage. To start, it's not a career at all. It's more of a race-by-race event system where you do about 10 races and then it's 'over'. There is no points system at all, which is unrealistic. There are no teams either.
Each race is less than 5 laps, from what I've seen. This is stupid, because most of the time, the races are either 2-3 laps long. There is no Practice session, nor qualifying (Which is unrealistic), which means that in each race, the only way you can hope to get this unrealistic 'Gold' finish is if you drive like an asshole and risk tearing your car up, because with nearly every single race, you start in like 14th or 15th place or something like that.
This is nowehere near being simulator. To boot, there is no pit crew or anything of that nature.
The AI opponents, or drivetars, or w.e they're called, are garbage opponents. They never pose a challenge, even with Unbeatable. What makes it stupid is that they can't drive for shit. I understand that Drivetars are supposed to mimic their actual drivers, but this system hasn't impressed me. It just makes racing even stupider because it's like driving in a -blam!-ing derby. At the least, they should have given us the option of jumping between traditional AI, and drivetar AI.
Playing in Free Play eliminates some of these problems, but at the end of the day, this game is still far from a sim. There are no flags at all, like a yellow when someone gets spun-out by a dumbass drivetar. No penalties, or anything of that nature.
In short, I expected this game to be a solid race sim, but the only aspect of it that is truly realistic is the raw driving/gameplay, with all assists off. There are no teams, and therefore, no pit stops at all. No penalties/flags in the races. Drivetars suck, and we can't choose to play with regular AI. Career races are extremely short, hence the reason why they decided not to waste the player's time by adding Practice and Qualifying sessions. Only problem is that you start in the very back and have 2-4 laps to make it to the front of the pack - which probably explains why drivetars are garbage. It's a whole list of problems that make this game a glorified arcade racer.

Sounds like you are used to F1 racing games.

5 AntwortenI've been thinking about getting it but people say the cars are so high priced in game you pretty much have to use real money to unlock them. Is that true?
