You can have any one animal as a pet.
I'd go with an Orca. Incredibly hardy, can survive in just about any waters. Very intelligent. Large enough that I could ride one majestically. Plus [b][i]they eat fucking sharks[/i][/b].
I also live on an Island so I can ride just about whenever I want.
So what animal do you pick?
NOTE: It will not attack you. It understands what you say and will obey your every command. Whatever special accommodations you need to make to keep it are already made, and food is provided. Literally all you have to do is remember to feed it.

Do monsters count? If so,I'd go with a White Fatalis. Uses red lighting. Can fly. Unstoppable (well,feels like it) monster that can instakill the sorry ass of any one that offends me.
