A serious sounding parody thread of a parody thread of a serious thread.
Should we just give up the ghost and declare that the union has failed? That our political shit storm is so bad that it's irrecoverable at this point and simply separate the states between the Republican/Conservative/Confederate states and the Democrat/Liberal/United states?
I am also well aware that many states are blue simply because of several cities alone. To that end I say that the cities and major outlying areas be considered part of the D/L/U and the rest of the state be given to the R/C/C.

Hurrah, hurrah! For Southern Rights, hurrah!

As was shown by the initial split caused by the Civil war; no. Both sides are reliant on one another for materials, goods and services. It would be tantamount to economic suicide to try this for arbitrary political reasons. The south feeds the north during winter, the north feeds the south in summer. The north needs the south's trees for building materials and paper. The north and south both need one another's manufacturing centers. This just doesn't seem plausible to me. The people who want it aren't thinking about these tangible concerns, they're just spouting empty political rhetoric to make their base feel better about being "right" and to scapegoat those from other parts of the country they feel are "wrong". The initial premise from both sides of the opposition are inherently flawed working from that emotive perspective. No reason to take them seriously, and plenty of reason to oppose a split on rational, tangible grounds.

5 AntwortenI don't know, but you should probably do something about this though.

Only if free passage is made an option so that those in the south that are unhappy with the change can be given a chance to escape into the north and vice versa. -blam!- living in a legally conservative Florida, just saying.

Your obsession is pathetic.

-blam!- that, I want The Union, The Confederate States of America and The Republic of Texas. But only after we get a different Governor. Robert Locke seems pretty alright.

That would make most of America that is rural with no one in them Republican. Just look at the Dakotas for example.
