Can anyone of you explain why we don't allow reporting of PM's/Perma Bans when shit like this continues to happen?

Thread Addressing It
The fact that this person, Rose or whomever they are, made multiple accounts that insulted me (Not the big deal), but also mocked my Mother's illness multiple times, on multiple accounts, going so far to ask if she had "Died yet?"
I get that we have the Mute function. But this person simply avoids that by making a new account and then attacking my and her yet again. So, will someone please remind me why the hell people like this continually get new chances with no fear of a Permaban?

1. No one care's about anyone's else's problem on the internet 2. be smart & get your local cops to track down his IP & Shut down his computer [unless your my dad your going to unlock the PC ] 3.ignore every message & being offended by this nonsense. [i know he was insulting your mom but bro chill you know]

Because the beta get's emailed to your gmail/msn what ever so you can keep making account's but your beta wont be cancelled maybe that's why.

Okay bro, like my fault. Drop those charges, I'm sorry. We good?

4 AntwortenWell I'm going to study with some friends. I knot for a fact you'll be on this site for the rest of the day and well into the night complaining and crying, so more power to you. Inb4 "hurr durr muted reported."
-
7 AntwortenIf this isn't the definition of a loser who takes the internet too seriously, I don't know what is. He's been cry about this for weeks. Just lol.
-
5 AntwortenDang, you're still sour? Get off the internet if strangers have this much control over you. Pathetic.

12 AntwortenBearbeitet von MastaSin: 2/21/2014 3:53:47 AMWhen people pm' me for this stuff I just usually mute them and ignore them. It's a pretty simple solution right there. Life is better when you mute retards and jerks. I mean, seriously, how hard can it be to mute someone who is annoying you?

3 AntwortenHelp Ive been offended on the internet Im going to faint, catch me liberals OH~

The point has passed that Rose is doing damage to people's actual lives, not just mocking them on a forum. It's time to address this problem before more harm comes.

7 AntwortenA user has messaged me, asking to be kept anonymous, but wished for me to bring up something. I'll quote the message here, if someone wishes to address it:
I don't want Rose to see this, and know if this has anything to do with 'how' he is muting threads or not, but earlier today I saw that 'Scout 2' [Liked] my post in this thread. I never saw that name before so I check to see who the user is. It's a new alt, go figure. BUT what I see is that he [Liked] nearly every post in this thread. Then shortly there after the thread went dark form normal view, AGAIN, which I was told COULDN'T happen in my thread that Achronos addressed the hiding threads issue in. Anyhow, later 'Scout 2' hid all his activity from others ability to view. I don't know if the liking posts somehow has anything to do with the muting, but it seems exceptionally odd.
13 AntwortenIcy, I'm coming for you. I think I'm at 5 messages today. 3 more and I have your record.

17 AntwortenThings everyone reading this should know: 1. We know there are still more things to improve with regards to the site's social functions (i.e., messaging/forums). 2. One of the these things was reporting users directly for things like inappropriate user names or the kind of garbage found in the PMs. 3. We do not have unlimited time and resources, so we prioritize. The change to how bans worked in early January was a result of finding a small window to make a few targeted changes. We had to limit the scope, so the profile/private messaging thing was left alone for now. 4. Unfortunately, in the near term, our time is focused on... other things. We can't constantly iterate on the forums to the exclusion of everything. We will get back to it, but not right now. That is the reality of software development - especially when the mute button is "good enough for now". It can be better, but it isn't like you can't do anything to help yourself right now. 5. In the meantime - use your mute button, and stop making threads like this. All you are doing is informing the sender of the messages that they are bothering you, and encourages them to continue, probably with added vigor. Hit mute, then be done. The person sending you these messages is clearly not worth your time, stop enabling them!

Good to see Rose continuing to Global Mute this thread.

7 AntwortenTo those of you saying 'don't post personal content', sure that's easy enough, but for many this is a community / place of comfort and being. They should not have to worry about people acting like this Rose person and a few others like them do. Muting does absolutely nothing to those who make alts by the ton to act like some form of demon to torment those they select to harass. The absolute cowardliness of individuals like this cowering behind the internet anonymity to bully other people... I just can't comprehend how you can live with yourselves. It's beyond low and pathetic. We've all seen people post in grief from the loss of a family member or friend only to be berated by the belligerent children hiding behind their multiple sign in names. Is Bungie responsible for this? No, but they are responsible for making this site a 'safe' place as I'm sure they intended it to be. By continuing to just ban accounts on occasion and not take the most egregious posters to task, they are basically saying *unfeeling monotone* 'No, stop, don't do that'. They know who these posters are too. If not, the mods do. I know they don't want this to be a police state and want members to have their freedoms too. Those who abuse those freedoms need to know that it isn't tolerated. As of the state of B.next we've all seen that they know they can get away with literally anything with no real repercussions. I'm glad that Bungie has within the last month remedied part of this by reinstating the mods abilities, but all in all that doesn't stop things like PM attacks. It appears a little more need to be done. No one should ever come to this site and be concerned about being unconscionably abused by anyone else.

17 AntwortenGood to see I'm not the only one. This looks like its a single user. Just one. Can we finally IP mute just him? Ask his ISP to block this domain or something? Its not a rampant problem with a group, its an individual determined to ruin the experience for everyone else.
-
1 AntwortenWell yeah rose is an arrogant bitch
-
23 AntwortenSeeing as how the problem has ceased to stop, I figured I'd post it here, as I already warned whomever is on the accounts. One more message, and I am bringing up charges under NY Law.
-
2 AntwortenAnother glorious message today.
-
5 AntwortenThis thread is seriously still going on? You've been replying consistently for 7 straight hours.
-
Take it down! Unless you wanna get warned. I know from experience, the mods remove this post and issue you a warning for
Impersonation/Harassment
. OT: that's a despicable thing for him to send.
-
6 AntwortenAs said by Achronos, PMs are your business. Mute them and they can't message you. Also, it would appear to be the same person using alt accounts.

1 AntwortenI want to reiterate what Cobravert said because I think he hit the nail on the head. Communities like this are places for people to gather, find like minded individuals, and have a good time. While I agree that you shouldn't post personal information, that should be things like your social security number, which frankly you shouldn't be sharing at all. It's wrong to have people be afraid of opening up on a website where we're supposed to be a community; dare I even say friends. You make friends by sharing things. By getting a little more personal and closer with them. That's what separates them from random strangers. This should be a community. Not a fright-fest. Now. As for a solution? There really isn't one aside from having people stop being tools. Hylebos probably had the best idea, implementing a feature that keeps people that you don't follow from messaging you. Granted, that has it's problems, but that's be a users choice. I'm really sorry you're having to put up with this, because that's not what this community should be.

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von Mad Max: 2/20/2014 11:03:32 PMJust to support Icy's claims, the same sort of messages fill my inbox each day I post. It's demeaning and frustrating, and only adds fuel to the fire that we can't do anything about it. It's sad that this is what it has come to after I've been a part of this community for so many years, but this is precisely why I rarely come here anymore. I can't make a move without these kinds of messages showing up. I tried to take the high road and ignore them. I tried to diffuse the situation diplomatically. Alas, the only option is to leave.

6 AntwortenOk while i feel for you and your family this is a good lesson on why You should never post private or personal information on the internet. Websites are full of trolls. Its best to let them say what they want. It happens and people slip. Yet the thing is never let them have control over you. People let words have the power and meaning if you let them. He keeps doing it as he knows its getting to you. While websites are great places to socialize its not a place to give out information on your day to day life. Nor any information that would be considered private. You will have jackasses like him just know that you know the truth and keep such matters to people you know. Opening it up to the public invites many things. Its like going into any place and telling strangers your private business. I know you probably need the moral support but try to be wise about how public it is and who it is.

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von Hylebos: 2/20/2014 11:50:17 PMA permaban wouldn't solve the problem any more than a regular ban would. What you'd be looking for is an option in your profile settings which blocks all private messages from people who you aren't following or something.
