No, Adam and his wife did not name their daughter "Mass Effect," as some accounts have said as this story gathered viral traction in the past 24 hours. And it's Mom's idea, he insists, not his. Even among gamers, though, this naming choice—broached on The Escapist's forums, is controversial. There's a robust debate over whether the child should be named simply "Tali," rather than "Tali'Zorah." Because at that tender age when she's being Googlestalked for the first time, her suitors will discover she was named for a video game character.
At least it's not something too weird or alienish like Saren or Garrus Vakarian.

Tali is a nice name. Tali'Zorah is going to make her life difficult through school. Why do parents do this?
-
At least 'Tali' is somewhat believable. She could easily pass that off as coincidence whenever somebody asks if she was named after the character. Tali'Zorah, on the other hand...
-
"Tali" doesn't sound that weird at all. It's unique among actual people, but it's a quaint sort of unique.
-
Saren or Garrus honestly don't sound that odd to me, pretty much all of the names used in Mass Effect wouldn't sound that odd on a human, unless you started using Hanar soul-names or something. Anyways, nothing wrong with Tali at all (especially since it's a real name in the first place), I'll admit that having Tali'Zorah as a first name would a little weird, but it's not anything bad enough to make anyone really question it. Afterall, there are plenty of kids out there with compound names like that. I doubt that this guy's daughter would be introducing herself as "Tali'Zorah" all the time or be using the full name in everyday use, it'd probably wind up shortened to Tali.

No Wrex >:(

Is her middle name vas and last name Normandy?

7 AntwortenTali is a great name but Tali Zorah? That's just stupid. At people will still call her Tali for short. Tali was an overrated character anyways.

The only video game character I would ever name my kid after would be Kairi. Lel. Kingdom Hearts

Garrus isn't that odd of a name. It's somewhat unorthodox, but it doesn't sound too weird. In reality, the names of the Mass Effect aren't that bizarre. I've met people named Liara, Mordin, Thane and Samara. Mordin was actually named after Mordin Solus too.

2 Antworten"Tali" is nice, not too weird, still sounds cool and foreign. the zorah part might not sit quite as well though.
