that was undetermined
In June, Giardina is believed to have used at least $1,500 in fake gambling chips while playing poker at the Horseshoe Casino, said Pottawattamie County Attorney Matt Wilber.
Casino employees discovered the counterfeit chips and alerted the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
A month later, the Iowa agency notified StratCom. The Naval Criminal Investigative Service began its own investigation. Iowa wrapped up its probe in late August and decided against filing charges, deferring any criminal action to the military. NCIS investigators are still continuing their work, Kirby said.

Obama fired the guy without evidence and trail. Basically saying that he doesn't need to abide by the justice system. He can just fire anyone at anytime.

3 AntwortenSince when do you need to have a trial to fire somebody? "Well Jim, you haven't showed up for work in the last two weeks. So I'm afraid we are going to have to go to court and convict you of murder so I can fire you."
-
Protip: Criminal Code =/= Employment Act
-
2 AntwortenFiring =/= criminal charges. The guy obviously did something that gave negative press to the government. That is pretty firable. Remember, we live in a day and age where you can be fired over shit you say on Facebook. All you have to do is be a poor reflection on your boss, and out you go... I get it. You hate Obama, and nothing the man does will ever be right to you. Had he not fired him, you would likely have had a post that his #2 man, with a finger over the big red button, was out gambling and Obama DIDN'T fire him, and holy shit, can't Obama keep control of his people, if he lets a gambler have the launch codes... He can't win with people like you.
-
2 AntwortenSince he works for the President, doesn't Obama have the right to fire him? At least in Tennessee any business can fire anyone for any reason.
-
2 AntwortenFiring != Charging you dumb -blam!-. If I was your boss I can fire you anytime I want. I don't need you going to jail in order to fire you.

2 AntwortenActually it was because of irresponsible gambling. And yes he fired him because of charges etc. I remember posting this yesterday.

Bearbeitet von HurtfulTurkey: 10/11/2013 5:31:12 PMWhy would he need a trial? The guy wasn't discharged, he was demoted and relieved of his command, then reassigned. The Admiral can speak with JAG and arrange a review of the case, but this would probably only lead to further humiliation and probably a court martial if criminal activity was proven. It's weird that he was using fake chips though. Navy Nukes make a shitload of money compared to any other billet in the military, and a nuke VADM probably makes at least 300k a year when you add in bonuses.

7 AntwortenFirst a Naval Admiral and now Maj. Gen. Michael Carey of the USAF. If this were happening in China or North Korea, it would be reported as "the leadership is restructuring its military command structure in order to ensure that loyalists are in positions of power".

1 AntwortenStop jumping on the Obama hate bandwagon. He was accused of illegal gambling, also not exactly fired, but demoted.
A US Navy admiral who oversees the nation's nuclear weapons forces has been sacked, a Navy spokesman has said. Vice-Adm Tim Giardina, second-in-command of the US Strategic Command, is under investigation for illegal gambling activities. He is accused of using counterfeit gambling chips in "a significant monetary amount" at an Iowa casino. Adm Giardina was demoted to a two-star admiral and will be reassigned pending outcome of the inquiry. On Wednesday, the Navy's top spokesman Rear Adm John Kirby announced the removal of Adm Giardina as the deputy in charge of the US Strategic Command. Adm Giardina, a career submarine officer, was suspended from duty on 3 September after the military launched an investigation into allegations he used counterfeit chips at a casino not far from his base in eastern Nebraska. The case was referred to the US Naval Criminal Investigative Service after he first came to be suspected of the crime. Security clearance In September, Special Agent David Dales of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation told the Associated Press news agency "a significant monetary amount" was involved. "We were able to detect this one pretty quickly and jump on it," he added. It is unknown whether Adm Giardina's alleged actions at the Horseshoe Casino in Council Bluffs, Iowa, compromised national security or operations at Strategic Command. Strategic Command, which oversees everything from America's land-based nuclear missiles to space operations governing military satellites, is located at Offutt Air Force Base near Omaha, Nebraska. Adm Giardina's demotion follows several other incidents affecting the US military's nuclear establishment. In August, a nuclear missile unit at Malstrom Air Force base in Montana failed a safety and security inspection, after which a senior security officer was relieved of duty. In May, it was reported that 17 officers in charge of maintaining nuclear missiles were sidelined over safety violations at Minot Air Force base in North Dakota.
