Maybe the traveler is what hit us. Maybe it's been going around the galaxy picking off planets and all the other races we're seeing have been chasing it trying to take it down. Maybe it made it last stand on earth and out of desperation made a deal with humanity to scratch each others backs, which started the hostility from the other races.

Just think. What if the story they've been telling their kids, since the traveler showed up, was a lie. Make them think that the other species just showed up and started a war. Raising generations bent on revenge and taking back what was lost.

Hahaha who's to say man? As much as I love Bungie's a story telling, I just hope they go out on a limb and really make it something unexpected and maybe even a little dark.
