I hope it becomes bigger. It all depends on how the competitive play is approached as well. I'm certain the story and co-op will be great, but I'm still wondering how competitive is gonna play.

as it stands Destiny doesn't give me any indication it will be as big. I'm not really exited for destiny from everything I seen still.

3 AntwortenNo way. Halo was a well designed proof of concept launch title killer app. that set of an entire industry trend, a trend that is still going strong today. Halo launched the console first-person-shooter genre years ahead of the curve, it launched the online console experience years ahead, it launched the user created content on console FPS years ahead. The original Halo trilogy still has a tremendous impact on the direction the console gaming industry is taking. Halo pretty much made the Xbox. Halo pretty much killed console platformers. Halo continues to be a cultural phenomenon. Destiny can be three times more successful than the original Halo, and it will still not be the game changer Halo is/was. But really, it's not a fair comparison. Halo is up there with Mario, Zelda, Half-Life, and Doom when it comes to video games that changed the industry.

19 AntwortenNope ... bungie have taken too many shortcuts already. So many hints as to what would be in this game ... and as the details nor emerge many are being dropped. Recent posts on this same forum, like the piloting of your ship. They (bungie) hinted after doing the spce combat section in Reach that we should expect more in their next game - now it appear that all we get is a Mass Effect styled cut scene as you travel between locations ... disappointing. And then the sell-out in the games value. You buy the first game and you get a fraction of the total picture. To play the whole game out you then need to pay out for 3 more full title releases, plus 4 more Comet releases (80% price point) and then a bunch of DLC in the months between. That's a BIG bill for a single game, not to mention how they are going to keep it anything close to fresh. And then there is the Activision factor. Even though bungie keep ranting how they are in control, the contract states that Activision have the controlling vote ... which means Activision is in control for the next 10 years. The game is about making money for Activision - end of story.

Titanfall [b]IS[/b] what Halo should have become. I remember the big mech v marine battles from Halo CE - online Gearbox games of maps containing plenty of tanks, with hogs loaded with marines racing in launch close contact marine force on a tank.

Probably not as big as halo. Microsoft will probably be like: "Yeah, sure, heres Destiny. But look! Here's a brand new... Halo game!!"

I predict that it's novelty will die out in about 6 months, and then it'll be forgotten until it's add ons are released.

As big or bigger in different ways. Playerbase will be bigger. It's multi-player will be as good or better than Halo's. The Destiny property will not grow as big as Halo's though. Halo has books, toys, a TV show, web series, comics, etc. Destiny might try and branch out like that, but without a main hero, someone to look up to (like the Mastercheif), things like books a TV show or whatever won't lift off like Halo did.

12 AntwortenSure, all the pieces as there to be successful: 1) Multi-platform, larger potential fan-base. 2) Thoughtful, experienced developer with a pedigree. 3) Publisher/Advertiser with a big bank-roll. 4) Added elements, like rich character customization, that will reel in and grab gamers. Encouraging a large amount of time investment. 5) A ten-year outline already in place to prevent them from painting themselves in a corner. 6) Creative control of their IP. 7) Name recognition fro both Bungie and Activision.

I dunno. It seems like a lot of big AAA titles are releasing at around the same time, and unless Bungie gives people a compelling reason to buy and steps up their game with ads, they're gonna have a hard time standing out among the Flood of other great games releasing at about the same time.

It definitely has the chance to be bigger, but there's no way to know for sure.
