I've always received the vibe that using emoticons here was considered immature.

Not really. People use them all the time and it can be better than posting a reaction image. Otherwise, this place would look more like an image board than a forum. >:D

Everybody calls them twelve year olds. I know a thirty two year old and 28 year old married couple that uses them so I end up ending anything people start with me when I use -.-.
