First things first:
Fire Neil Davidge. His work with the original Halo 4 soundtrack was, quite honestly, sub-par. With only 1 or 2 good compositions (117 and Arrival), he is obviously not the right guy to continue making the soundtrack for these games.
Solution: Hire Tom Salta or Kazuma Jinnouchi (or both) to create a wonderful and memorable soundtrack.
Now that that is out of the way, here comes the good stuff.
Note: If you feel that something is left out, please tell me so, and I will add it in. I will not add things like "make the armour better looking" or "change the sounds of the weapons". Although those may be valid points, they are relative to the person speaking.

Matchmaking
Split the Playlists in two: Ranked and Social.
Ranked playlists have skill based matches, a visible skill rank, a visible skill rank for each game mode, give you EXP towards your Progressive Rank (IE: Spartan Rank) for armour unlocks. The amount of EXP changes depending on you and your team's performance, select few armours that are prestigious to obtain, and select differences for competitive play. Differences include (but are not limited to):
No sprint
No Armour Abilities (Either equipment, or nothing. Like Halo 3)
No flinch (when you're being shot while zoomed in, your player should be put out of zoom)
No random ordnance or personal ordnance
No Personal Load-outs (choose from select few IE: DMR, BR or AR)
A visible rank (1-50, with 50 being the highest IE: Halo 2/3)
Playlists: Ranked
Team Slayer ("BR Starts" variant, "DMR Starts" variant, "Classic" variant (AR starts), "Precision starts (IE: DMR, BR, Carbine, LR)
Team Swat (Load-outs include: DMR and BR)
Team Objective (KOTH, Oddball, Team Regicide, Extraction, CTF One Flag, CTF Two flag, Assault)
Rumble Pit (FFA, Regicide)
Objective FFA (Oddball, KOTH)
Big Team Skirmish (Invasion (NEEDS to return, play as Forerunner Warriors (not Promtheans)), BTB, Big Team CTF, Dominion, Extraction)
Social
Social Playlists have an EXP based progression system (similar to Reach and 4) that allows you to unlock the majority of the Armour. While the Ranked Playlist gives you different amount of EXP depending on you and your team's performance, Social Playlists give you a set number of EXP depending on your Progressive Rank (IE Spartan Rank). This encourages players to play Ranked Playlists in order to progress faster through the Progressive Ranks. Social Playlists do not have a skill rank, nor do they affect the skill rank you have earned in Ranked Playlists.
There are differences to the Social Playlists, that include (but are not limited to):
Default Sprint (ala, Halo 4)
Personal Loud-outs
Personal Ordnance (in select game modes)
Social: Playlists
Team Slayer (With BR, DMR, and other, starts)
Team Swat
FFA (Objective game modes, IE: Oddball, KOTH)
Grifball
Ricochet
Flood (Infection too; make it work, 343.)
Action Sack (Self explanatory)
Campaign
Basically, don't -blam!- up. Make it great. Make sure its engaging and fun. Also, Chief should be able to Sprint as default.
Instead of making Spartan Ops and Campaign separate, join the two.
Make an initial Campaign, and add weekly missions that add upon the previous week. Play as Master Chief in these missions. Make every mission as long or longer than a standard Campaign Mission, and include a cut scene before and after the mission. Skulls and difficulty changers should be included.
Also, include some awesome Easter eggs. Not the Bull shit ones we got in H4. Make skulls fun to find (not like this Terminal BS) and if you include Terminals, they should be watchable in-game. Not on Waypoint. I felt like Halo 4 didn't do a very good job of storytelling because it assumed you knew what was going on and expected you to watch the terminals.
Theatre Mode
Make parties able to watch clips and videos all together. Allow for multiple clips from different videos to be compressed into one file (IE: montage). Allow Campaign and "Extra Mode" (IE Firefight or Spartan Ops) to be recorded. Upload to YouTube, with commentary.
Custom Games
Build upon Reach's customization. I want to be able to make the Red team wear Pink and Baby Blue FOTUS armour with a yellow visor.
Forge Mode
Make every map forge-able. Including non-forge maps. That way, we could use that map as a canvass (IE, I want to use "Abandon" from Halo 4 to recreate "Guardian" from Halo 3, but there's no room. Delete everything on map.)
Include weather system, night and day settings, plus forge world sized maps with different environments (IE Erosion, but bigger). No height limit. Forge underwater.
Keep the magnets tool, add an Undo and Redo button, re-add precision forging.
DLC map packs should come with free Armour and Weapons skins (meaning that, even if you dont buy the DLC, you get free armour and weapon skins.)
For every DLC, it should include:
1 Remake
1 BTB sized map
1 4v4 sized map
New Armour *free
New Weapon skins *free
Forge world *free
Should cost us 800-1200 MS points

Couldn't agree more that hunting down terminals is a snoozefest not to mention an laborious chore for little reward other than bits of pieces of a bigger story that already got muddied a long time ago
-
agree for the most part I personally think each game mode should have their own playlist with a mix bags for the less picky, too many times have I had to play games i dont enjoy because no one votes for the mode i like. Headhunter for example, no one votes for that

4 AntwortenHow 343i can improve? By not existing.
-
16 AntwortenThe problem with 343 is that and I quote to Frankie "We're happy with Halo 4 is heading to". (Source, Comic-Con 2013) Frankie is happy with the horrible Halo they are building, 343 doesn't see their work as a failure or mistake, they see their horrible work as an "evolution" to the Halo franchise, which ofcourse is not. That's why I decided not to support 343i anymore.

15 AntwortenBearbeitet von kgj: 7/25/2013 4:21:31 PM
Fire Neil Davidge.
Holy hell no. IMO, the only advice I could give them at this point is to try and set an emotional tone for the entire game instead of being "in the moment." Halo 4 is great at doing the latter, but to truly feel like Halo, you've gotta give your own, distinct touch to it- even if its not the same as Bungie's. Much the same way the Halo trilogy's ancient, forgotten, art style flowed with Marty's ethereal choir, along with the floaty gameplay.
Instead of making Spartan Ops and Campaign separate, join the two. Make an initial Campaign, and add weekly missions that add upon the previous week
No. NO GOD NO.

By shutting down imo
-
Team Swat: BR and DMR seperate. Team Swat with both together was a piece of dirt crap cause every stupid person would just use the BR. Clearly logic wasn't used in this game mode.
-
Let them have time to finish the game. Make them work faster to repair problems after release.

2 Antworteninb4 op was banned on waypoint
-
No more DMRs Plama pistols, Plasma grenades, perks or boltshots ln loadouts. Also take armor ablities out of load outs and put them on maps to be used as power waeapons

15 AntwortenHow 343 can improve. Step 1- Give Halo back to Bungie THE END

4 AntwortenI remember the OP. He's that guy that made a Halo 4 armor thread and he muted people because they had a different opinion than him.

2 AntwortenHow about....they stop making halo games and make a different game that's not using the halo brand. I think that would make everyone the happiest.
-
2 AntwortenArmour should not be tied to rank. Exp, sure, rank, no. If you tie something to rank, you'll get more prevalent boosting. The mistake Reach and Halo 4 made is that DLC was not required for most playlists. In Halo 3, the success stemmed from variety in maps. Reach and Halo 4 were extremely repetitive. Halo 3 had a variety of playlists where you could play any one of 20 or so maps. I play like 3 or 4 maps with Halo 4. I've said this before, the Team Dominion playlist should have been renamed "Team Exile". Make most playlists DLC required and things will be great.

2 AntwortenI believe Neil Davidge makes good music, but the problem is that it doesn't have.... you know, the Halo feel to it. That's what is missing from his music. Now that the story is being focused on the Master Chief again, this would be a great opportunity to bring back classic Halo tracks from the original trilogy. As the original trilogy progressed, we got fresh new music of course, but there was always that original music at the core. That's what was missing from Halo 4's soundtrack. It was all new and unfamiliar, and ultimately didn't feel like Halo music.
-
5 AntwortenThe obvious way for 343i to improve is simple; Complete the next Halo game before releasing it. Da-dah! Revolutionary game design thinking from me! Who would have thought it? Assault, Elites, Firefight, Invasion, 1 flag, classic flag, infection, custom game options, UNSC flying vehicle, hell bring back Elephants and Choppers too. Anything (or everything) from this list would make for a much better Halo game from 343i. I'd honestly probably still play H4 if it wasn't for the missing things which resulted it in it being crushingly boring.
-
1 AntwortenAdd back all the gametypes they removed from Reach Add back Campaign scoring and timing, along with a theater mode that isn't a piece of shit. Hide Skulls in the Campaign again. Don't make the multiplayer so....dumb
-
5 AntwortenFire everyone from 343. Problem Solved.
-
They'll need hella more then that. And the Social/Ranked how you outlined it makes perfect sense! If you sucked at Rank, go to social and master each weapon with the help of personal Loadouts. Gosh .. 343 need help

3 Antworten
Fire Neil Davidge. His work with the original Halo 4 soundtrack was, quite honestly, sub-par
Stopped reading right here, your opinion is worthless.
-
1 AntwortenAgree about the soundtrack. Jinnouchi and Salta made great music. Davidge's stuff is just too generic.
-
8 AntwortenGo complain about 343 on 343 website (if you don't know the est way to get there is Halo.Xbox.com)

Ehhh.....
