I was expecting something revolutionary. At least I wasn't aboard the hype-train.
So, was that a let-down for anyone else? I think it's strange that for the world premiere they would go to Russia, rather than Venus, the Moon, or even Mars.
Update: Gotta take a shower. I'll respond to any and all hate messages afterwords.

Hat ein neues Thema gestartet: The problem with "showing" what Bungie does best.(14 Antworten))

1. The game starts you out in Russia when you play it so it makes sense to start there, obviously. 2. What do you mean "something revolutionary"? Like they're going to show all their cards on the first bit of gameplay? I think not. Also, the idea of a console FPS with drop-in, drop-out multiplayer and the level of customizability of the way one plays the game in terms of single player, multiplayer, massive muliplayer, etc. hasn't been in any other game.

The person talking during the demo were fake and annoying The person playing the demo was terrible at shooting and refused to aim down the sights Seems a lot like Halo/Borderlands to me. Where were the cool unique weapons? Cool unique powers? Kinda boring to be honest

6 AntwortenI don't feel compelled even a little bit to invest myself in this franchise. They lost me at Reach, and they really had to win me back. Sorry, but it just wasn't happening for me. I was looking forward to having a reason to come back to these forums, but... nah. :/ Sorry, Bungie. I really loved the majority of your games. This one just isn't going to be for me.

If you were expecting a revolutionary introduction of everything all at once you don't know Bungie. They like to tease and keep stuff under wraps. All they wanted to do was show the general look of the game, how the party system works seamlessly throughout the game, show off the ghost (Peter Dinklage voices, like wow awesome), the fact that there are different classes with general basic abilities, how the basic combat works, a little part of the loot system, and finally the power of the environment in the game. If that wasn't the beginning of an awesome game I don't know what was. Loot was done in a smart way, and the game just generally looked like it was a smooth experience. There's many awesome experiences to come, like seeing venus for the first time, but I think they want to leave some of that stuff to our own discovery. Patience is a virtue, and Bungie likes to make people hype for the real juicy bits.

4 AntwortenAgreed. Just another generic fps that is lackluster in innovation. Guess Bungie didn't want to step too far out of their comfort zone too make this game. I'll be sure to rent it when it comes out. Inb4 die hard bungie fanboys fail to see reason and flame me.

i completely agree with this thread. LACKLUSTER demo. I will not buy this game just because Bungie made it, they better show something that is actually as amazing as they try and hype the game up to be.

What I will say is that I'm glad that I wasn't absolutely blown away by that presentation. Let me clarify: I'm not saying that I was disappointed by what I say, it looked very good. I'd describe it as Bungie's Borderlands, which is certainly not a bad thing. I was certainly pleasantly surprised by the public event notice; that looks like a lot of fun. While we only got a glimpse, weapon customization seemed very deep. The graphics looked phenomenal. The music was fantastic. I was pleased with what I saw. Oh, and apparently that was Peter Dinklage's voice being used for the Ghost. TYRION LANNISTER IS PRETTY MUCH THE NEW CORTANA. That is the kind of awesomeness I like. Bungie will come out with more features as times rolls on. It'd be a pity if Bungie crammed every possible scrap of information into that gameplay demo as possible.

1 AntwortenWhile I greatly disagree with you (No I am not a Bungie fanboy) we have hardly seen the surface of what Destiny has to offer. Getting on its case now is just plain ignorant. Destiny looks great. This was a gameplay DEMO. Everything difficulty wise is toned down for the sake of time. If they really had to battle it out they would hardly be able to show anything. That is the same thing that happened with RYSE: Son of Rome.

13 AntwortenBearbeitet von Ginsu85: 6/12/2013 12:09:04 AMLol... It was in Russia because you start out on Earth and they wanted to show one of the locations on Earth for that reason... they as well didn't show off everything they were going to put in the game because they are saving a lot of features for later on... that Ghost he used to power up the inside of that was was awesome...

Everybody's entitled to their opinions but I think it way met my expectations I'm very happy with it and excited to be able to get to play it with my two other friends leading the team as a warlock

7 AntwortenOP you are an idiot. That was amazing. PS saved the best for last.

4 AntwortenIt was awesome. We got a tiny, 0.0000001% taste of what is to come. If you don't board the hype train, you gonna get left behind, son.

I think I overhyped Destiny waaaaaaaay too much. Now I've seen it I can lower my expectations. Did look quite cool though. Key word being quite.

9 AntwortenThat's because you perform sexual favors on 343i employee's.

Personally, I liked it. But to each his own man.

9 AntwortenYou're just pissed 'cause you pre-ordered an Xbone.

21 AntwortenDid you fall asleep during the gameplay or something?
-
Personally I thought it was a great trailer.

2 AntwortenI -blam!-in' called it. I mean I knew I'd called ta rt,m the start, but damn. Anybody surprised by this should be ashamed of themselves. On the other hand, just because it's not 'revolutionary' doesn't mean it can't be a good game.

3 AntwortenI don't think this is a game that one ten minute demo can do justice

8 AntwortenI agree, I was not wowed by the demo. At the beginning, we see a player enter on a ship, but we got no control of that ship. I wouldn't go so far as to say that means we won't have control of our ships, but I was hoping to see more there. Next, we see the Hunter wave. :/ Finally we get a HUD. Looks like we get the same-ol motion tracker from Halo. I would have liked to have seen, if not a mini-map, at least some sort of mapping feature. Then they are inside, and it's dark, so the warlock deploys his "Ghost". Not sure what that did, because it was still dark for a while. And was the ghost talking? Finally, the lights come up, and we see some action, but there was nothing spectacular about it. Part of that might have been because the Warlock seemed to have terrible aim. Next a boss fight. The Hunter dies, and becomes a floating orb? Revival just warps the player back in? This left more questions for me than answers. Loot! This was the highlight at this point. We got to see how drops work. Looks like loot is another glowing orb, and once picked up, the item is actually revealed. I'm guessing this is so that each player can get something appropriate to them, without having to have each piece of loot out on the battlefield. I like it. We also got a look at the menus and weapon progression. More of this please. No friendly fire, as expected. Finally the public event. This was the high point of the demo for me, and I definitely want to know more about how players are brought into/join a public event. How often do they occur? Are there other types of events? All in all, for a 12 min video, it didn't really get interesting until about 7 min in.

5 AntwortenI don't understand in anyway how that has the se art style as BL2

3 AntwortenI don't think your eyes were open! The size of the environment! The sound of the ships! The gun play! The noise the fallen mother ship made as it descended! The earth made speeder bikes! The fallen devil tank dropping in for the kill! The fighting of the group of guardians taking down the Devil tank like a choreograph of destruction! The absolute badassness of the guardians and their individual looks and weapons! This is just one of many scenarios/areas just on earth!!! The possibilities are endless! I'll say it now. This IS the shooter to play my friend! I can't even sleep! I'm so pumped! I want mooooore!

25 AntwortenI saw the first online persistent world shooter full of cinematic story events, large scale dynamic hop in/out co-op gameplay, and without any of the clunk of a modern MMO. What exactly were you expecting?
