Why are Ronald Reagan and JFK treated like saints these days?
They were both mediocre presidents. Said some flashy memorable things, but didn't do a whole lot of good. RR started the whole wealth inequality give to the rich thing which is unpopular with a good amount of people, and JFK was a disaster with the Vietnam War.
So what gives? Do the political parties just need a saint figure to look back on to make themselves look good or something?

JFK campaigned for peace and got murdered so he's bound to be remembered in a favorable light.

Reagan was the worst president in our history and JFK was below average. JFK is hailed as a hero just because he died, Ronald Reagan was the recipient of good fortune and timing when the neocons and fundamentalist Christian right allied and became a political force.

JFK is treated like that because he got a bullet in him. I personally think he wasn't that good of a president. Reagan was a god of a president. Probably the best we've ever had.

14 AntwortenYou must be too young to have been around during the Reagan years. His term did more good for the country than what may be visible today. During that time period the US was in a major recession, not too much unlike today. His plans brought us out of it and into a time of prosperity that most people were able to live well enough off of and not depend on government hand outs like today. He was a great negotiator and helped bring much of the cold war to an end. Then Clinton had to come in and screw us with the whole mortgage crisis thing we all are paying for now. Kennedy was a couple years before I was around, but he remains one of my favorite presidents. He didn't want Vietnam. That was Johnson's doing.

Kennedy was a badass, he got men on the moon. Reagan was a good president for his time, key term: FOR HIS TIME. His policies and actions fit the situation and climate of his era, but wouldn't stand up in today's world.
