Hey all long time destiny fan here since beginning of D1, I'm curious to know if people really think this game is dead or just pushed to the side till the Marathon hype dies down .

Dead no. Dying and grasping at its last breath through a straw yes.
-
More like hibernating. It ain't dead til it gets shut down.

As someone that spends a lot of time in public zones nowadays, I see a ton of new players everyday. Do I feel like it's dead? No. Do I feel like veteran players are bored and moving on? Yes.

I think it’s sadly very dead…

How do you kill that which hath no life? With the sword of a thousand truths!
best south park episode of all time... but interesting how it is truthful no?.. even in aspects of a game... it has no life being a virtual world yet it can be cut with the truth of neglect
We shall see. IMO.. Guardian Games (Mar 24) and Iron Banner (April-ish) events will help... but its the next season/expansion that will mean a lot to many. I am curious to see if they will only update some loot in dungeons and raids... without offering some explorer matchmade modes to some if not all (at least dungeons)... for me without explorer/MM modes similar to ROTN that update is meaningless... so it will be a big miss for me and I think more than 50% of the playerbase. I continue to find enough for me to do in the game... especially when PVP can be good. So it depends upon your mindset... what you like to do.. but I doubt they won't at least keep servers up for a couple years (unless they are losing money hand over fist). There is always the chance that Sony entertains the concept of giving enough to d2 investment for some reason like (bring back those who left, D3 potential...etc)... but overall its difficult to see a rebound when no plans are announced. -
