Whats sad is, rather than expanding the Destiny franchise and all it offers, Bungie decided to vault most of the current game, run it on life support, just to fuel their need for Marathon to succeed. Which in my opinion will fail completely because extraction shooters is a flooded market and Arc Raiders is apparently the best ever made. Why not fix the already established success of Destiny with another title? There is nothing like it. Marathon I feel is their way of jumping on the hype train of another genre and I think it will be their downfall to forcing Bungie into developing D3 but will be too late.
Ive played D2 the most in the gaming world and have zero interest in the extraction shooter genre. What hurts the most is I cant even play content I and many others already paid for.

Bearbeitet von RemissGlobe5691: 1/27/2026 12:44:44 AMDestiny used to have a positive, futuristic vibe. Now instead of Destiny it feels more like KARMA. Definitely no more pre-orders for me. This might be as far as I go money wise.

Next question we need to ask. If they are going to be a 2 IP studio how is this going to work? You could argue they threw resources from destiny to marathon to get it out the door but realistically the destiny production time and money is being spent fixing the total mess created by edge of fate . They have mismanaged destiny with bad/tone deaf decisions . History tells us the same will happen to marathon. I just cannot see a way destiny will get any better while trying to manage 2 live service games.

Playoffs.......You wanna talk about playoffs

When a company spends ten years proving it has a winning formula and a thriving player base, then knowingly torches it to prop up a 32-year-old Mac game, it’s no longer a bad decision—it’s executive malpractice. That isn’t innovation, it’s burning down a functioning house to justify keeping a museum exhibit on life support.

I’m reminded of the chorus from the -blam!- Pistols song “God save the Queen”. It seems quite fitting for this game, studio and community. I’ve made myself sad.

It is my honest opinion that Bungie wants to make an extraction shooter for 2 reasons. 1. Jump on the band wagon 2. Wipes (sunsetting) is an "acceptable" thing in the genre (because most do it) So Bungie can continue to make low effort content that only needs to last "x" number of days. And with their development pipeline, I am only guessing, but I expect bugs to persist for whole seasons/wipes. Just like it is in Destiny presently. Because why put all the effort into fixing something that will just expire in a few more weeks, and everyone will buy the next season anyway or risk falling behind. Just my hunch, and I really hope I'm wrong.

Problem with destiny is it has a lot of bad press so a D3 needs to get good press and not cost through the roof. Plus getting Sony a agree to it which they probably wouldn't.
