18 AntwortenGame needs a huge relaunch or D3 to really boost player numbers. My money’s on D3, but we’ll have to wait and see what the multi-year roadmap tells us.

24 Antworten
Numbers don't lie.
No they don't lie, but excluding the 2 main platforms the game is played on just to whine about a game thats still pulling better numbers than newer games is a very idiotic thing to do. Its funny how many of you d*ck ride a "writer" who can't even use more than the smallest source for players and literally relies on whiny articles about a videogame to get paid. You do know you people who clearly hate the game can just quit at any time, right?

3 AntwortenBearbeitet von Maginator: 12/29/2025 12:16:21 AMStopped following Tassi long time ago. He’s supposed to be a “gaming journalist” and with that title there should be a certain amount of professionalism. Caught him to many times reporting stuff that was just plainly wrong and/or completely out of context. You are not a journalist by just spouting your opinion there are certain due diligence, investigations and fact checking that should occur before you post stuff, he does none of these quite often. Besides that i absolutely hate that articles now just report Steam numbers, sketch a scenario and call it a day.

7 AntwortenGood. Let them suffer. This is what happens when you turn a great game into a greedy money pit. Marathon will be a major flop as well. All they did was make the graphics better.

4 AntwortenI've been in many discussions where everyone blames Lightfall. But I keep saying that the numbers don't support that. My belief is that the problem is the long term decisions of bungie, even well before LF. Players stuck around until Final Shape, but many had decided before FS that it was the end for them. We talk about stockholm syndrome. But I believe many were just pushing through so they could finish the light/dark saga. The end of that saga was the perfect exit ramp. The problem now is you won't get these players back very easily. In their minds the Nine saga is basically a new game, but with the same problems and developer as the last. And they don't want to touch that hot pan again. This isn't a problem of Renegades. Renegades is paying the price for the sins of all the development before it.

No, numbers do not lie. There are reasons players are NOT flocking back. 1) years of making the game harder, EOF topped that off by tying LL progression to difficulty and creating a new Ultimate difficulty mode. Players do not like this and will not come back as long as this is in place. 2) too few new activities, 6 in lawless frontier, just 6. 3) timers, limited revives, TIMERS on everything 4)No new exotic wihtou8t legendary mode campaign, and once started on normal, you can't change it or repeat campaign on harder difficulty. Bungie is continuing to make bad decisions about changes to the game. QOL changes are not enough and not timely. Prime example: The Vault changes we have been asking for neigh on 10 years, too little too late. Players are NOT coming back for vault changes.

4 AntwortenWhen Bungie start listening to their fans their numbers will improve...but they don't listen to their fans...so the game is pretty much over... Once you establish yourself as an arrogant company it's hard to shake...well deserved Bungie, you deserve all of this...

Bearbeitet von Mark, Scholar of Stars: 12/30/2025 8:44:31 AMSteam is a good indicator for observing a direction or a trend. Right now, there are 15,000 people playing Destiny 2 -- a massively multiplayer online game. And even if there are bigger numbers on console (maybe?), with a trend like this, it can't be much more. I know a lot of players who stopped after Bungie announced the changes for "Year of Prophecy." Players, more from console than on PC. Paladins (of Discord), Sherpas, and brilliant players who build the backbone of a game like this. Destiny 2 went its way... the way Bungie created for years. That's how easy it is. Edit: Text correction

It is unfortunate that Bungie has this game. I would like to see it in more capable hands.

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von BANZAI GEXX: 12/27/2025 7:26:05 PMI don’t normally give my opinions on this topic but here’s what I feel. 1. They made the game too difficult. It’s not fun to play. 2. I agree the power leveling is a chore, been playing since D1 and even I’m tired of it. 3. It’s not solo friendly. If they want a greater player base, they need to open up the game to everyone to reach a new audience. They cannot rely forever on a loyal player base. That’s just my 2 cents. If you’re wondering, all I play is PvP everyday . It’s the only part of the game I enjoy.

8 AntwortenThe fact he's basing the health of the game entirely on pc jus goes to show he's still essentially clueless & jus writes fluff. Seems to believe every opinion he has on the game is representative of the entire player population.

By that metric, Borderlands 4 is a failure and dead game with its 7k steam player count which is lower than Destiny 2 was months into Edge of Fate. An 8 year old game at 77k isnt even bad considering it's not even a pvp focused game.

2 AntwortenI’ve owned every expansion except EoF and Renegades. I wasn’t going to buy Final Shape until they added the prismatic class. Honestly to me an expansion without a subclass isn’t worth the money. Even lightfall was worth it because at least we got something new to play in the old sandbox. These destination abilities is a cheap way to make content feel fresh without actually adding to the longevity/replayability of the game.

I don’t think the lost playerbase is recoverable. Bungie have spent so much time and effort on pushing so many people away that it’s unlikely they would ever return to D2. Or any other Bungie game. -
2 AntwortenTassi is the biggest bot of the playerbase. I couldn't care less about him and his opinions.

18 AntwortenA very sad end to a once great game… it’s such a shame some of the more vocal forum member were giving such bad feedback… saying things like they love the grind and the portal is great…. U have to make a casual friendly game if you want a success

3 AntwortenOnce Marathon flops them they will suddenly understand where they went wrong. But honestly, Probably not though, because Bungie doesn't learn from mistakes

3 AntwortenBased on the title, I figured there would be some sort of trend analysis. This was literally just a screenshot of the same Steam charts that anyone could Google for themselves in about 2 seconds, with zero analysis or consideration of console players. I should have expected a very low effort article since it was from Tassi, but there's nothing at all here.

2 AntwortenDiablo 4 has risen from hell they have fixed so much and the game is so much better now thanks to what they have done. They have got players back and retained them. New class new ways to make builds more powerfull and its rng its great buzz. Destiny is boring in comparison nice for a raid now and then and a break from other games but not a main one anymore they need help asap.

Bearbeitet von adamndirtyape: 12/28/2025 6:47:20 AMI think the number one reason by far for Destiny 2's player decline is simply that it's old. Plenty of games, even fantastic ones, fade into oblivion. I don't think D2 being a live service game makes it immune to that dynamic. It's just the way of things. New games come along to compete, or older players get jaded, new players get lost in learning the game, you name it. Though people who still love D2 hate to admit it, the world moves on. But this brings up my real complaint against Bungie. When one door closes, another is supposed to open. That door is supposed to be Destiny 3 or Marathon, which is the problem. One doesn't exist, and the other one maybe shouldn't exist. Where's the new vision or adventures we can look forward to? Absent of those, D2 is all there is left to cling to. Bungie needs to get their long-term strategic vision together fast. Even if the current development team performs miracles with Destiny 2, it will probably still fade into a fringe game. Bungie needs to show D2 players that their loyalty won't be wasted. They could even retain or even expand the player base a bit if players thought something good was still coming down the road. But right now, that's lacking, and that lack of vision and the game's age is taking its toll. Anyways, I still hope something of interest might still be coming. We'll see.

5 AntwortenWell gee .. how on earth could Bungie have seen that coming when they were given lots of feedback before Edge of Fate about their changes and the utter disaster that is the Portal. How could they have seen this coming ?? Literally told. And they continue to double down while wondering why everyone walked away. I had a blast playing the Division 2 Christmas Event. Matchmake to kill the baddy, get Winter Keys. Use these keys to unlock the 25 completely free apparel items, including full outfits. FREE. Or cash them in to get some of the best exotic guns in the game. Or donate Keys to help others. I even bought a skin to honour a dedicated agent who passed from cancer. 100% of the price goes to a cancer charity. He has a mural in game too. These Devs care. Now, tell me why I should rank up my Frontier vendors so I can get tier 4 loot at 540 when I am 550, by playing horde mode against bullet sponges. Or baking stupid cookies. Or ranking up a paid seasonal reward pass that has three cores as a reward. And that's before the laggy PVP and difficulty ramped up across the board. making activities tedious beyond belief. No wonder people can't be bothered.
