I do it for a holographic effect on your character that evolves based on the number of resets you do per year?
I think people generally like leveling once a year.
Prestige Resets provides a chase for people that enjoy that.
I kinda' do.
Spitballin'... 10 official ranks but you could push it further for clout.
After hitting X... max light right now is 550
Rank 1 Prestige - Normal leveling to 450, 450+ Primes
Rank 2 - Normal to 400, 400+ Primes
Rank 3 - Normal to 350, 350+ Primes
Rank 4 - Normal to 300, 300+ Primes
Rank 5 - Normal to 250, 250+ Primes
6 - 200
7 - 150
8 - 100
9 - 50
10+ - 0
That's a mountain to climb.
Benefits for each Prestige Rank.. it has to be decent, but if you make it must haves or major combat or defense bonuses people would hate that.
How about every prestige rank adds .5 secs to any buff applied to you... that's 2.5 secs at Rank 5.
I don't really want an overflow of cosmetics, but there could be some.
Minor utility stuff.
But most of all... some type of marker on your character, a crown... a shield... maybe a full body Aura that evolves.

1 AntwortenDon’t mind me, just eating popcorn while you fish :)

Terrible idea… community burned out on grind …. Hence the collapse in numbers

3 AntwortenBungie... Please don't do anything like this. This is horrible in every conceivable way. As a matter of fact, ditch the idea of prestige, ditch the idea of players grinding levels in any way shape or form. The players made a statement with EoF. We do not want to power level anymore. We just want good content and meaningful long term chases. Power level or prestige system do not fall under that category

1 AntwortenThis might be your worst idea yet

11 AntwortenPeople don't want to grind to regular 550. Let alone 1000 more. I've seen your mountain of bad takes around this forum, but this takes the cake.

I am OK with it if I can reset power to 10 at level 300 - basically using quick play fireteam ops to level up and reset once the daily/weekly rewards stop coming. Grandmaster and Ultimate are OK but have too many irritating modifiers. I think going to 300 will take me 3 to 4 weeks.

1 AntwortenThe whole prestiging power thing sounds like it would be good so long as they do it right and provide a decent reward or benefit for doing so. These people saying its bad or pointless seem to forget how, just like in cods prestige system, they wouldn't be forced to do it. It would simply be there just for those that want to.

Would ability cosmetics be a cool feature for prestiged guardians you think? Like a more fiery solar nade from sunbracers? But each prestige it gets a more amazing look to it? Idk to me if we could just look more badass doing what we’re doing according to prestige level getting greater animations the higher up we are while having a slightly more enhanced capability in everything with that to seem more “elite” that would be really satisfying.

4 AntwortenVery reminiscent of how paragon is for Diablo 4 in a sense, you exceed a level threshold to earn increase bonus to your overall character with bonuses that benefits deeper build crafting. Pushes the envelope of traditional builds to the next level, in what you describe as increase to buffs and or debuffs inflicted and gained. Would be an interesting idea, but I can already see the complaints from casuals in pvp, and or pve for those who don't meet their required preferences ECT ECT. Keep cooking though, it's nice to see fresh ideas that could make the game and the grind feel deeper and rewarding for the efforts put in. Enjoy your day guardian 🫡🍻

If it's purely cosmetic, almost no one is going to do it. No one liked the grind to 450, just as many hated the grind to 550, why would players want to grind several hundred more levels only to STILL be capped 30-50 below the enemy in everything? Especially if, and we all know it would be, it would only last for that season?

1 AntwortenI wouldn't want that without more of a chase. Maybe 2000 Silver for every prestige or something. Not many would be willing to do it more than once, but those that can would see a greater benefit..... but I don't think that should be the endgame for D2. There needs to be more to do. All we have now is a few lost sectors, a mix of strikes and dull activities, limited dungeons, and lame exotic missions.
