For everyone crowing about Destiny 3, you do realize...
...that's what Edge of Fate is.
New story, new location, new characters, new big bad guy, a massive overhaul to our weapons and armor, a new interface to get into activities, new modifiers for those activities, new difficulty scaling, new events, the only difference between Edge of Fate and Destiny 3 is that EoF didn't add anything to the content vault, all the old Destiny 2 gear and activities are still there.
Would you rather have started off with an empty vault and none of the old stuff being in the game; you wouldn't have complained about the lack of content? Instead of having a half dozen Solo Ops to choose from you'd have one or two, instead of having two dozen Fireteam Ops to choose from you'd have two or three, is that really what you want?
Any game Bungie built from scratch would necessarily be smaller than what we've got now, it would have less content to participate in, fewer activities to choose from, less gear in your vault. All the complaints we have about EoF would be multiplied, we'd lose more than we'd gain.
Edge of Fate [i]is[/i] Destiny 3 in all but name. What do you think D3 would have more of than we have right now? What complaints about Edge of Fate couldn't be leveled at Destiny 3 in spades? Do you think it wouldn't have bugs? Do you think you'd have more strikes than you have now? Do you think the difficulty would be lower learning a whole new game?
If you don't like Edge of Fate, I don't think you'd like Destiny 3.

4 AntwortenThis is not D3 D3 would be a new engine not a copy and paste grab from this content,throw from that content. But it would take a minimum of 4 years to get it out. The reason I say 4 is because lots of new tech makes it easier to make the world and such(ex U5).They could expand the lands from lots of the planets in D2 not even have to start from scratch.The copy and paste is what's making the problems especially since the engine is like 10yrs old 🤷♂️

Yeah, Edge of fate is basically a soft Destiny 3. They made the director basically useless and the portal the big thing with their “soft sunsetting”

6 AntwortenNo, it's not at all, and if you think that's what D3 would be, you have very limited vision, and are just coping Edge Of Fate/Portal is Destiny 2 lite, Destiny 2 mobile, It's an extremely condensed version of Destiny 2 meant to be smaller and cheaper to maintain, because the Destiny 2 team has to live on scraps while 99% of the budget goes to Concord 2....I mean Marathon(same thing) And 1 New Destination,1 New Charachter, with the same enemies we have been killing since 2014, and a boss from Episode Echoes,Mya was the main villian in EOF, the Archon was just comic relief Edge Of Fate is still inside the outdated engine made for Original Xbox, Old Dog,Old Tricks In a fully funded D3, with all of Sony's studios(-Naughty Dog cause I don't want Niel Duckman near this game) we could have had all new destinations, all new abilities, all new classes, all new weapon types, all new art style, new species, new factions, built on a modern engine,For next gen and PC only, with unlimited vault space, and secrets and mysteries to find all over the new galaxy we are in TLDR, D3 wouldn't have been the portal, D3 could have been Destiny 1 in No Man's Sky

I have compared it to Mass Effect 1-3 and Mass Effect Andromeda which I thought was a great new start and definitely better weapon and movement systems but few liked it and it was abandoned. Then we got Anthem (Marathon?). I like the new system, period, but further improvements must be made and bugs be fixed.

1 AntwortenThis is only my personal opinion but I suspect 'D3' would turn out to be like so many other things people have demanded; fantastic in their minds but the reality would fall short of that vision, and we'd see more of the "Nobody asked for this!!!" complaints along with rose-tinted longings of how great things used to be.

I don’t have much interest in them rearranging D2, with minimum new content being added. A fresh start, with a new campaign, new destinations, new loot, new everything, would excite me. Failing that, I’d happily take a Crucible or Gambit spin-off.

This is not D3, this is D2 streamlined to a point they thought they could get by. In hopes marathon would replace it as a main cash cow. But they failed their approach. D3 would be a new start without the need of an on-boarding experience to new players as is required to D2. They could put up a fancy video "the road so far" and now build D3 up from a new start. All the dead activities would stay behind us and the game should be built up with a clear road.

If Destiny 3 had launched as a new game and all it had was the new Edge of Fate content then it’d have been ridiculed for a complete lack of content. Edge of Fate was the result of diminishing resources being dedicated to Destiny 2. It’s the creation of a relatively small team, purposefully designed to try and further reduce ongoing dev support requirements. If Bungie had been fully focused and going all in on making Destiny 3, with the majority of dev resources dedicated to it, then I think it’d have looked a lot different to what we’ve seen with Edge of Fate. -

3 AntwortenActually no fans can only speculate that edge of fate could have been a rough draft of destiny 3. Just remember the rumors of destiny 3 it clearly stated that destiny was supposed to be a fresh game new characters new NPC new locations. Think about the current state of the game right now if this really was supposed to be destiny 3 destiny 3 would not make you do 5 to 7-year-old content.. lol ... If edge of fate was supposed to be destiny there would have been an overhaul of new content not 5% of new content..
