I don’t know how many are left but I do run in to them pretty frequently still. A lot more PS4s than Xbox Ones on my end but I do feel dropping support could possibly free up some resources in the engine to build a few more systems in game. It wouldn’t move the needle a crazy amount but Performance definitely would change.

Extremely slow Load time in to activities, lagging on their end slower response times to ads or combatants spawning in. I message them “yo you on a PS4?” Some say “yeah lol how did you know?” Some day “nah just bad internet” on top of that I played on a PS4 up until a week after Lightfall launched so I have seen first hand how it plays out in the live game. The way Old Gen consoles function with the content today is slow and rough. You don’t understand it till you play it side by side but the game literally runs slower on old gen consoles.

That's what you're overlooking though, last-gen players are still paying customers. Surely you've seen the posts people consistently splash on here about the diminishing player count; cutting them off doesn't seem like a viable business move at this point in time.
-
Yeah I do understand that it would cut the population. I think it’s give and take though. If you cut last Gen update the game and fill it with content like I am suggesting your player count goes back up on Steam and the most recent Gen of Consoles. Freeing up the engine for performance enhancing and less bugs plus content would bring a lot of people back for sure plus enhancing the performance could allow for things like clan housing and some of those extra features some players have been asking for.

You're basically talking about 'Destiny 3.'
-
I guess in essence yes but we are definitely past getting that so I think D2 has to be enhanced, updated, and pumped with content to continue to be a fun, community building game. I know a lot of resources are being allocated to Marathon but I am really hoping we can start putting resources back in to D2 soon. If not by Bungie then maybe Sony can whip that back in to shape. I don’t know for sure though this is in essence just a wishlist of what I want to see Destiny do year after year ya know lol
-
I'm not trying to seem dismissive of your idea; it definitely has merit. But I can't see any of this happening overnight and honestly, I think the easiest way for any of it to work would be for Bungie to shut the game down for of a period of time. Perhaps by postponing Renegades until spring, for example, then releasing the expansion after working to improve the overall state of the game during the interim months. Of course, that's sure to piss a lot of players off too so there's really no winning move that I can see.
-
Oh for sure it would be no quick fix. I would be totally down for a temporary phase of D2 going offline to relaunch with a better system and you could still totally get press and publicity off that to draw players back in as crazy as that sounds. It would definitely piss some people off but if the pay off was good enough we’d be fine in the long run. I don’t necessarily foresee any of these really coming to light as I am not Naive lol but it’s worth voicing and just seeing where the chips fall later.

Personally, I'd be totally cool with the game taking a hiatus until things are brought into focus as well. It would definitely beat the patchwork monster we've been playing lately for sure. Side note, I'm really looking forward to Guillermo Del Toro's take on 'Frankenstein.' As for putting the idea out there, it can't hurt. I mean, we're just talking here...........🤷♂️

Agreed it would probably be good for the game. Also same I think that will be a dope take on the character I have really enjoyed his works so far so I’m all for him making more film content.
