Its just a visual bug. If you open the gloves, you will see the power level at the bottom. 200 +200. Or simply equip them and you will see your Power Level does not take a massive drop.

Does that mean that if I want to infuse it'll go up?

It won’t visually go up, but the actual power level will. I just tried it last night.
