Bungie is essentially in crisis mode. Marathon (which should have been out in Spring of 2025, then Autumn of 2025, now Spring of 2026) is currently on the operating table, needing an entirely new set of skin due to their incompetence and all hands are 'very much on deck' to try and save their dying baby whilst its still in the womb. This would have been 'fine' had their other, actually living, child (Destiny 2) been in a good state. But it has been neglected for a long time, and turning up for Christmas occasionally isn't a good way to live. Bungie essentially can't create new content, because their resources are already fully utilized by trying to 'unfuck' marathon - this is what all of this has been caused by, rapid expansion, without the means to actually sustain that growth and with essentially zero contingency plan for if it all goes to -blam!-. That's not me excusing Bungie, quite the opposite. The consumer could not care less if "Game development is hard" So is literally any other service, and, if you haven't notice, your consumers are literally telling you "Well we'll just go somewhere else then" - and they are! Their inability to make content due to their failings has put the entire Company into what looks like, from the outside looking in, and unrecoverable tailspin. No amount of 'yanking on the controls' will pull the company out of its collision course with the ground, with Marathon, even after all that work, just as dead as it would have been had it launched now and Destiny 2 demonstrably dying in-front of everyone for the world to see. The changes that need to be made, unfortunately, needed to have been made, years ago. As it stands now, their reputation is in tatters. 'Gamers' on the whole, won't touch them with a barge pole. They're losing players by the day, at rates even faster than 'The Final Shape' and their 'hail mary', only succeeded in tanking their reptuation further with, yet more, stolen art. All of the solutions put forth are required, but I honestly don't think people are fathoming just how 'on the knife edge' Bungie actually is - within 5 weeks of DLC launch it was on a 30% discount, Platform wide. In just the last TWAB, Bungie notes there is a further 30% off for Year of Prophecy. They simply aren't able to 'make things'. However, the least they could do is leave what shell remains alone - I'd have rather have kept the game as it was in Heresy, at least you'd still see me turn up as opposed to uninstalling.
