Doing an expert run gives you both pinnacles you can get from nether weekly. As for commendations, if the screen is stuck loading you can always tab across to results screen and hand out commendations there by clicking on a star symbol or something like that next to their name.

The neather & gms are fine, I dont want to see a good activity ruined because some andys want their participation medals. Go play rivals where they secret match you vs ai/bots to stroke your ego, or WoW where you cant die while under level'd. Those seem more your speed.
