Well you gotta think how long the que times are, these silver and gold players are the only people in que, so you're only going to play them
Ascendants and good players have to be in que to match them, and when I hit ascendant 1 I don't bother to play any more ranked at all
Competitive just sucks, bungo has -blam!- it up so many times nobody wants to play it

Yeah, queue times are atrocious, but like you said it’s because no one plays the trash competitive mode. If they improved it more people would play and queue times would be better, but regardless queue times at max rank will be bad. It’s the same thing in league, when I hit masters my queue times are like 10-15 min and if I try to queue at 2am it’ll easily be 30+ and that game has millions of players.
