I just recently finished the new dungeon and warlords ruin. We breezed through warlords with a load out my friends told me was optimal. It did not use a primary weapon. And after finishing it, I understand why now. They are way too weak for the damage needed to even take out regular mobs. I understand special weapons are supposed to be, well special, but if a primary is supposed to be the primary source of my damage, then I think they need a bit more oomph to their output.

6 AntwortenDual specials are great till you run out of ammo

7 AntwortenMy Eyasluna with 80K+ kills would disagree. My Recluse with 160K kills would disagree. My Fatebringer with 40K kills would disagree. Then there's the exotics that most people have access to. Things like Outbreak, Wishender, Malfeasance, Striga, Huckleberry, RiskRunner. All of them have a place in the right content. There's plenty of amazing primary weapons out there, you just need to find the right one for the job.

Primaries are supposed to be your main source of dealing with weaker enemies. Like Psions. If you're struggling to do that with Primaries, then you need to experiment to find better ones.
-
3 AntwortenPick better primaries. There are a ton of primary weapons that deal a lot of damage even against bigger targets. And in many contents where you will need to chip away the hp of the enemies because you will run out of ammo if you go too crazy on using special ammo a good primary will save your skin. Blast Furnace with Frenzy+Tremors is an example of something that in regular content does not seem that good but in GMs tear through champs and majors while you are firing from a safe position away from them.

3 AntwortenI enjoy double primary.

3 AntwortenBearbeitet von MC 077 Lasombra: 11/4/2024 9:25:56 PMKinetic weapons haven’t been the “primary” source of damage for a long time now. Though I like that healing autorifle. But yeah, a lot of them are garbage and could use a bump. Some are good already but too many suck.

4 AntwortenBearbeitet von Azaezel: 11/4/2024 10:13:05 AMThe problem here is that a lot of primary weapons feel less fun just because it's possible to run double special primaries need hit related perks like chill clip to have a real impact in current game balance. And also in general perks like focused fury or Vorpal need to have at least 100% buff to dmg to be felt. Alethonym is an ammo regen primary. I think a good solution to this is to set all weapons dps relatively the same and no ammo OR, give primary weapons something that special and heavy won't have that would balance them

3 AntwortenOh you mean champion stunners. Ya that’s all they are good for

2 AntwortenThe give you that feeling of being able to scadoosh something

1 AntwortenFat boy Luke Smith ruined primaries!!

2 AntwortenRed death and Monte Carlo have one at the ends of their barrels

1 AntwortenWishender and Osteo Striga.

Did you think infinite ammo wouldn't come at a cost ? That's why primaries are so much weaker compared to the real Destiny
-
Im pretty sure the concept is weak, medium, strong..... Primaries most definitely serve a purpose for champions. It also seems to have a high special ammo drop to it...

i understand what ya mean…i was glued to my Fatebringer but once i tried out The Mountaintop/Buried Bloodline setup i don’t ever see myself switching from it….

14 AntwortenMy hung jury one taps shanks in vespers. My yesterday's question is great for dealing with hoards. My fatebringer sees regular use when hc are in the artifact. My bxr55 battler continues to be my most used primary. I still take my harowed doom of chelchis into gms regularly. Tyranny of heaven brings great add control. I refused to take helio off a couple of seasons ago Admittedly i tried using autos and smgs, but they both feel like crap to use. Sounds like you just need to get a better primary.

1 AntwortenHigher end PvP too. This game has become about maximizing special weps and abilities. Destiny has some of the best shooter mechanics around, but the game is hardly about shooting anymore.

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von Renfield: 11/5/2024 3:47:24 PMTo stun a champion and then quickly switch to special or heavy 😆
-
Simple answer, your primary selection sucks.

Primaries are pretty good, I have a really old fatebringer from season of the lost and it has double perks with both the pvp and pve god roll, and is adept, its always good for me, but my question is, how the heck to people optimally use a double special loadout, because in my experience, with those loadouts, special ammo finder doesn't do jack.

15 AntwortenBearbeitet von TripleF73: 11/4/2024 2:47:18 AMGood legendary primaries in kinetic slot Blast furnace (mine has OFA + Kinetic Tremors) Fatebringer (mine has EP+ Frenzy) Hung Jury (mine has multiple roles but my favourite is EP + KT) Chattering Bone (mine has Rapid Hit + KT) Nameless Midnight (mine has TT/Outlaw + KT) Midnight Coup (mine has EP+ KT) also have Firefly + KT and Ff + OFA. I think double damage perks are the way forward for legendary kinetic primaries. Most of these are excellent weapons that do the job well, especially in harder content, and for the most part are farmable from the Original Onslaught. Hell, my Nameless Midnight was a random drop from strikes. There are good guns out there. 😀👍. Edit. Forgot to mention some excellent energy primaries:- Zaouli’s Bane (Incandescent + Explosive Payload) is an amazing weapon that is relatively easy to get if you are able to raid KF every week. The Epochal Integration was a good consolation prize for those that don’t raid. Positive outlook, Ammit AR2, Recluse, Doom of Chelchis, BXR, there are good weapons out there with the right perks. But I do get your point. Most primary weapons are not good with anything but a 4/5 god roll.

Bearbeitet von The Hermit IX: 11/4/2024 5:35:42 PMYou do have a valid point and that’s why Graviton Lance, Sunshot, Khvostov, Outbreak etc shouldn’t be nerfed. They are a smart choice as the exotic slot because they have excellent ad clear ability and unlimited ammo. There are some really good primary legendary weapons though but it’s either an exotic primary or double special these days.

There's a time a place for everything right?? You might find dungeons, or certain dungeons are more free to run double special as abilities do a lot of work and ammo is less of an issue. So things like 1-2 punch shotty on a combination blow hunter works great.... especially with heavy ammo finder mods and lead from gold perks. E.g. I loved this for GoTD, with indebted kindness as a second special. But the above was solo, I would not run that with randoms!!! For other things it might to key to having a primary weapon... if not just for the ammo!! E.g. have an auto to shoot nodes in SotW; you'll never miss that last node because you ran out of ammo!! Then champions... having one as a failsafe is really useful; how close do you want to get to a champion with a shotgun in a gm?? (Abilities can work wonders for champions, but this is failsafe... just in case your gameplay loop stops at the worst time).

Primary =/= "primary source of damage" lol

Double special is definitely optimal, but I always love a good explosive payload hand cannon. After its recent buffs hand cannons are almost back to how they were in d1 and they used to shred everything 😩
