Characters missing
i wanted to move my epic account to my steam but all of my characters and progress is gone on steam but remains on epic. i removed my steam from another cross save just before but everything successfully authenticated anyway. i have no option anywhere to set an account as primary and ive done everything in the cross save guide. on my cross save setup it says my characters are from epic and it shows them but they nor my progress is on steam.

Hi there. Cross Save cannot transfer or merge characters from one account to another. Characters are permanently bound to the account they were created on and Cross Save just allows you to access the data of one set of characters on other platforms. When disabled, those characters go back to the original account (in your case, Epic). Whenever Cross Save is disabled on a profile, all accounts that were linked in that Cross Save have a 90-day cooldown placed on them. You can relink those accounts to other profiles, but they will not be able to participate in another active Cross Save until their cooldown expires. That's why you can't see your Epic characters on the Steam account right now. After the 90-day cooldown expires on your Steam account, you should be able to see the characters when you log into Steam.
