Pinnacle grind doesn’t raise player count

Like seriously you got rid of the system in lightfall due to feedback which was fully of praise the final shape you bring it back which people hated and also penalty system is dumb in PvP pinnacle grind feels like a chore and seasonal challenges feel like more chore i swear frontiers needs to change the entire game and overhaul into something new

  • Yeah, if what we've seen in Revenant is what we can expect under Tyson Green, I'm not exactly thrilled about the direction Purely anecdotal, but nobody in my regular wheelhouse was excited for the reintroduction of the seasonal Pinnacle Grind, or the removal of craftable Seasonal Weapons

  • - Announce plans to remove the outdated power system. - Proceed to ignore that promise and keep the same power grind in place. - Watch as the player count drops to 20,000 on Steam. Do they even realize that even free players are fed up with this repetitive, cheap grind? Bungie seriously needs to grow up. It’s almost 2025, and they still haven’t learned from their past mistakes. Ignoring the community will not bring numbers. Even Warframe is getting better.

      Rather than raising player count, it probably has an opposite effect. As I wasn't that hyped for this episode I didn't play at all for the first 2 weeks and when I felt like getting back, I booted up the game only to get rejected in LFG because these people in LFG that 90% of the time have a quarter of my amount of kills in GM only look at power level like it indicates how good or bad you are in activities that don't even have power level enabled. So yeah I didn't touch the game for another week and I assume this is not just me.

    • It is not making me play more. I’ve already completed the seals for these activities and played them until I hate them trying to get an exotic weapon drop. This was never the answer. They just wanted something to make people FEEL like they had to play more because they can’t make activities that make players WANT to play more.

    • It's an annoyance, to be certain, however even I have to admit it's been nowhere near as bad as it used to be (although we'll see if I've changed my tune when I'm stuck on the same power level at the end of Act 3 that I was on at the end of Act 1). The problem is that the line between 'grind' and 'chore' has become very blurred for Bungie. A 'grind' is something that you do over and over in order to progress toward an end goal. A 'chore' is something that you do over and over in order to progress until the chore begins again. Trying to reach a set of ever moving goalposts, is a chore, by any definition.

      • Whether it is pinnacle, craftable or not, D2 structure and formula are old and stale, that are the fundamental reasons that people move on. When you have been playing destiny for a decade, everything would look and play the same. New raids and dungeons have the same structure and gameplay, it gets stale as well. Seasons are supposed to be there to freshen up play but they too fall into the stale structure. Into The Light is what we could call it new and people were having a go. This episode, onslaught is just more onslaught with lesser loot quality. Stale. Previous episode is kind of ok due to Final Shape by far is the best expansion right behind Forsaken and exotic class items are new and fresh. We had a go at them but the grind was too much and slowly distanced away from them altogether. For D2 to survive, they need to go all in PvP or PVE. PvP has easier structure to build upon but without dedicated server it would fail. PVE needs creativity to freshen thing up all the time, let's be honest, it is not easy thing to do with developing costs so high. Frontier promises changes to armour, weapon perks but will that be enough? Most of D2 weapons are the same and they need to create more interesting perks like volt shot, incandescent, volatile round. They do wonderful interactions in gameplay. Kinetic tremor is another fun perk which has some creative interaction with other perks. What D2 perks lacking is on hit effects and i understand why is that. On hit perk in PvP would raise issues. When they introduce perks, they are always restricted by PvP, so creativity would be tempered. It is kind of difficult to have both being good and balance when both sides of the players are looking for fun gameplay. They are very different in structure, conflict is inevitable. Hopefully, new frontier gives us new structure and new way to play D2.

Just because a vocal minority of the playerbase started spamming posts about it being bad for it to return doesn't negate the majority who have said they wanted it back. Also, the artifact makes it so those who don't want to grind pinnacles don't have to so long as they never want to be max power for trials.         • The pinnacle grind also makes me obsess over looking at the pinnacle grind going up even though I have four months to do it passively and not care about it. Also, the sky is blue until the sun goes down.

        • Nothing raises the player count but new content. The pinnacle (or any) grind slows the rate of player count drop.

          • Nothing now will raise player count . Destiny 2 is in limbo at the moment . The power rise was a desperate move to see what sticks and brings people back .

            • Why would or should it? The same people playing anyway day in day out will sooner or later reach next pinnacle PL and the rest won't play more cause they don't care about PL anyway.
