Guardians are the single most dangerous things in the D2 universe. Infinite use of paracausal energy, the ability to harness both light and darkness, and they’ve killed several gods. The Adeptus Custodes are space marines but better in literally every conceivable way. They’re bigger, stronger, faster, and have better weapons and armor. Not to mention that each of them has a personal suit of terminator armor, and only one of them has ever been interred into a dreadnaught.
Who wins? Y’all decide.
I WILL RETURN NEXT WEEK TO PUT THE GUARDIANS AGAINST THE GREY KNIGHTS!
EDIT: Probably one of the best points I’ve seen brought up is that lore accurate guardians are not “the guardian” that we play as. Lore accurate guardians are more along the lines of Randy (you know the one) and those kind of people. Just something to consider.
EDIT 2: Another thing that I’ve realized is that if Rasputins Warsats could kill the Traveler, then there’s not much that the Custodes don’t have access to that would be able to disintegrate the little sky golf ball, it’s honestly not even a contest at that point.

8 AntwortenIf AC can use drop pods, tanks and ships it would be a similar fight to the cabal... which would kill several guardians (remain available to res), but ultimately would be a pretty one sided battle. But AC are leaps and bounds better than the cabal... tactically aware and perfectly trained in warfare, for 100s of years, if not millennia. Just imagine the impact it would have on guardians when the first ghost gets destroyed (think caydes death) and what would happen if that happened to several ghosts in quick succession... I think the shock/suprise/fear will be the undoing of them and will leave them open for an assault. But, I think guardians will retreat to save themselves and will achieve victory over the course of a 12-16 week period... being careful to collect some fish and the forna/flora needed to ensure victory. Additionally, couples therapy will be provided where required.

1 AntwortenBro they could just virus bomb the earth a be done, they don’t even have to fight. Also like a single bolter shot would rip a Guardian to shreds.
-
Just imagine mayhem, but 25 different lobbies. I think that solves the issue.

3 AntwortenHonestly, we don’t know what constitutes the “Traveler” as a being. The fact of the matter is that the Traveler does have a physical body being the massive Golf Ball in the sky, but it also has a Pocket Dimension within it, much larger than the Traveler is itself. I mean, is the Traveler the constitution of the Pocket Dimension, and the Shell is just there to prevent the unfiltered Light from poring out, thus why we now have the Aurora with the Portal Open, or is it something else entirely. Destruction of the Body might not result in our Ghosts and by extension, us losing our Light. Back in Lightfall, the Ghost talked about how despite the Traveler seemingly dying at the time, the Ghost still felt a connection to the Light, though it was a much deeper and colder connection (allusion to the Pale Heart). At the time, we fully thought the Traveler to be dead. Did its physical body die (being the shell) or am I just pulling at straws at this point.

2 AntwortenIf we’re talking lore accurate guardians? Then guardians.

4 AntwortenWe don't know that the warsats could kill the Traveller, it seems apparent to me that the golf ball was just letting that whole situation play out. Regardless even if they did blow up the Spherical One we were literally able to reconnect to the Light via the EDZ shard during the Red War. The Light finds a way, bud and guardians make their own fate. Is there a man among the legions that can claim to have the power to alter fate itself ?

3 AntwortenDo I need a fireteam, and do I need to use a mic? Those are the two undoings of guardians.

3 AntwortenSpace Marines win with a good amount of casualties. They're smarter faster and stronger. Once they see that ghosts are the essential things in a guardians arsenal killing them would be their top priority. They can also eat their enemies and gain their memories which mean they can easily figure out how everything in the verse works and adapt better. Guardians are cooked 🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️
-
5 AntwortenI believe that if the AC’s figure out how to reliably kill a ghost, the guardians are cooked. Otherwise, guardians win hands down.
-
3 AntwortenSaint is also a "lore accurate guardian" and what he did in the Infinite Forest should really put this debate to bed tbh.
-
3 AntwortenHonestly guardians would win but…. Ultra Marines and the God emperor before his mortal wound would definitely give the vanguard a run for there motes.

5 Antworten3 guardians would be more fair

6 AntwortenBearbeitet von pieceofgosa: 10/11/2024 2:48:51 AMSpace Marines are basically just Cabal. I, or at least my guardian, could fight 300 Cabal on his own. EDIT To be a bit more serious for a second, I want you to imagine 100 Nightstalker tethers ripping into the AC ranks, followed swiftly by 100 thundercrashing Titans & 100 nova bombs. This isn't a fair fight you are proposing.

6 AntwortenAs a lore-deity I can tell you with certainty it would be the guardians

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von Crazy Cat Guy: 10/10/2024 8:53:39 PMVirus Bomb the last city, go home. No point in trying to get the Guardians to join the Imperium. A good chunk are Xenos anyway. Signed, Imperium.

1 AntwortenI'm not even into warhammer lore that hard but i'd still say space marines hands down. They have some of the craziest tech in the universe and master tacticians with psyker powers. The only reason we survived the red war was because one of us got our powers back in a way (travelers shard) that Ghaul couldn't stop. The moments after losing our light are like severe motion sickness, fatigue, and almost paralysis so we're super vulnerable. After that we're just normal mortals. No special jumps, abilities, supers, or resurrections. Hell, we probably wouldn't be strong enough to handle a lot of our bigger guns anymore. I love guardians more than space marines but if you think they couldn't figure out light suppression technology (or some alternative) you're crazy. Once they have that guardians are toast.

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von ㅤ Avvor: 10/9/2024 10:19:27 PMIs an individual one of those adeptus custodes planet level? Genuine question btw cos if not they are cooked

5 AntwortenGuardians literally cannot die unless their ghost gets crushed and they can harness the power of the light and darkness, Vs a few boys in space suits
-
Pretty sure the Custodes have this one wrapped up. Whilst they may be incapable of permanently killing a Guardian, they can almost certainly spawn trap us.
-
5 AntwortenGuardians hands down. Space magic and immortality wins.
-
1 AntwortenMaybe if it were 300 lore accurate "The Guardians" (aka us). Most Guardians that aren't The Guardians die to grunts (Thrall, Dregs, etc.) all the time and are nowhere near God-Slayer status. However, Guardians have ✨space magic✨ and are pretty much immortal wizards. I don't know too much about the Emperor's Angels but I am pretty sure 300 regular ol' lore accurate guardians and not 300 "The Guardians" would still win. It just would be more of a fight with more casualties.

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von theGreatMoogle: 10/7/2024 8:36:57 PMGuardians basically can’t die, you know that, right? It’s important to me that you know that. All jokes aside I love Adeptus Custodes, but they wouldn’t stand a chance against Guardians. The strength and discipline they display is amazing, but is ultimately overshadowed by a lore accurate Guardian’s power, hell maybe even a gameplay Guardian’s power. Now, I will say, the baddies of the 40k universe are SO much worse than anything in the Destiny universe. Chaos Gods are genuinely terrifying, and the closest thing we’ll get to them is the Winnower.
-
Imo depends on who you bring for guardians. Do we bring 300 guardians who are like the player? Capable of killing gods like the Witness? Or just 300 lore accurate as in any guardian like the ones who die to hive guardians. If we do 300 guardians who are on par with the player canonically then probably the guardians but just regular lore accurate guardians would lose.
-
1 AntwortenDefine Lore accurate guardian. The lore we have about the power of guardians is really weird. We have guardians like Ikora who are stated to be something so incredibly rare, it would be unlikely to see another like her in another 500 years, yet we also have Osiris pre nerf and the Player Guardian (who is a canonical character). Then there are guardians who seem to be City Block level (powerful in their own right, and immortal nonetheless, but not nearly potent enough to face planet busters like ourselves). The range by which a guardians strength is shown varies wildly.

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von DarthWolfric: 10/6/2024 9:13:09 PMA lot to be said. The most powerful guardians—the god-killing kind—are only a few, those day-1 fireteams, and there are probably many more less capable, however still very powerful guardians. A Custodes could crush a guardian, destroying them inatantly, and with a Custodes for every guardian they could prevent them from every reviving, perhaps crushing the ghost at the moment of emergence. If however, the guardians managed to cast their supers, things might change. I know my guardian would be useless, I’m terrible at the game.
