The player base isn’t leaving because the game got harder or the best things are locked behind harder content. They’re leaving because the story is bad and it’s the same old same old content or weapons just reskinned. What ever big percentage of the player base that’s left or is claiming to leave aren’t majority casuals. They are players that been playing this game since d1 and actually put some hrs into it.
So the idea that oh the game is getting to hard or I paid for this game I should be given everything follow by casuals carry this game is dumb. The only thing that I do agree with in the new light missions which are completely trash and need to be work or even better just bring back the d1 campaign with a little spice added to it.

Bearbeitet von Zodleon: 9/17/2024 2:08:58 AMI stopped because it seemed someone took all the dials and spun them. -The loot grind is meaningless, with random drops not even worth looking at because they aren't a red border. And abilities often being vastly superior for ad killing -pve getting harder to keep up with abilities that are constantly nerfed in uninteresting ways simply to reduce their power not diversify their uses, often just killing them, with no interesting payoff for the extra effort. -buildcrafting being dumbed down to such an extent that the options are just surges for damage or ability energy for ad clear. -pvp being mangled. There's just too much in that one to go over. -pve rarely asking you to do anything interesting and when it does it too complicated for the lowest common denominator of player causing wild swings as they try to apeal to too many types of players making a game for no one. The game feels like it's made by teams that either don't talk to or just hate each other with play testers who don't even know what a destiny is.

5 AntwortenDisclaimer; I just recently got back to the game so there's still things for me to do and I'm waiting for things that currently arent accessible to come back in rotation so I can complete those things too. That said, for more seasoned players I would assume that; * The game hasnt gotten harder to the point that they can't play it. It has however become more advanced which has resulted in that it has become more boring - MUCH MORE BORING. As someone who has played through all campaignes recently the shift is really noticeable. "Normal" content doesnt need all the breaks for chasing down a buff or destroying a crystal - they're just boring and unnecessary time sinks. * The most recent DLC'es havent been all that great. I'm personally never going to Neomuna or the PH. They're just boring places. Especially the PH. * The power grind has been rendered completely moot. It's not fun to not notice a difference, as a 2020 or whatever, between 2005 and 1945 content. * Nothing is ever fixed in the game. * Ten years later and they still seem incapable of completely separating PvE and PvP - resulting in that one will constantly screw over the other. * They're still completely lost on how to make a social game, it lacks all the social tools and we literally never interact with other players in an organic way. * They could have implemented MM for twice as many things and it still wouldnt have been enough. * Blaming sunsets on platform restrictions?? So why can't PC players have the full game? * Sweating about lore to the point that the game becomes more boring to play.

1 AntwortenWrong. Know a dozen+ players that left because of the difficulty. Just because you or your group have trivialized content doesn't mean everyone has. And the population shows it.

12 AntwortenFor the most part I agree with what you've said here with the exception of one thing: weapon reskins. Let's be honest, does the appearance of a gun really make that much of a difference? If they have different perks they aren't the same gun and besides that, there's only so many ways a shotgun (for example) can be designed.

Why not both? The more that you understand a game, the easier the game gets, especially if you have accumulated a wealth of tools for the job. Being a new player or one who only plays occasionally, it is going to feel relatively more difficult, so lowering the floor will be beneficial for these players. On the reverse, retaining and expanding upon their most challenging content isn't a bad thing to keep long time players entertained, though such players can make their own challenge for the game. I won't disagree that the story lately has been lacking with many plot holes and not being very engaging, but it's not the full picture.

10 AntwortenPlayed since D1 launch & D2 is a far easier game imo. Casuals will always come & go it's the people that have stuck around through the worst times that have kept the game alive & should be listened to for feedback.

I'd argue the majority of the casual playtime players sit in patrol zones or strikes. There's plenty of casual playtime players who engage in endgame content. Those people actually try and don't complain about every single thing in the game lol they actually try. The people leaving are the same people who have been complaining for years that the game is too hard and they just want to be carried through everything. D1 & d2y1 I was one of those people I just didn't care to try or learn. When forsaken came out I got back into the game (CoO was the worst time ever). I actually tried to get better & engage with the systems in place at the time. My first raid clear was scourge of the past. Tl;Dr some people are just don't give a 💩 about actually trying or getting better in this game so they blame everyone else but themselves. No accountability.

32 Antworten
What ever big percentage of the player base that’s left or is claiming to leave aren’t majority casuals. They are players that been playing this game since d1 and actually put some hrs into it.
That’s a complete lie. I should know, I’m a casual. I find it more and more difficult to turn on the game and play. For casuals who haven’t put that much money or time into the game, they usually end up leaving. The game is getting harder and harder, with simple stuff like patrols and lost sectors having raid mechanics implemented. It’s much easier to boot up a game like Apex where there is P2W, no direct advantage based on time investment, money spent, or power level.

Bearbeitet von FloodZ: 9/16/2024 5:59:32 PMSo all the people making posts about not liking that the game has become too hard (the "crying" you mention) don't really know what they're talking about; what they really mean is that they actually agree with you and your point of view. They should thank you for telling them what they really think.

you understand how a bell curve works.. why.. there will always be more casuals.. and they are always more important to a business that wants to stay in business.. a game is always carried by casuals.. or its gonna go bye bye (hmmm) hard-core will always have stuff.. they are simple to please I agree overall that its about good stuff to do.. fresh approaches.. diving into the player experience at all facets -
3 AntwortenThat's a pretty good point. There's also the problem of not really knowing what a "casual" is or there being several different meanings for this golden group of prized players. Most of the good stuff comes from playing the game with other people. That's the biggest decider in terms of whether or not people are getting the rewards that they want. But some people play the game all day and get turned into standins for the anti-no-life constituency and so nothing really gets done about the access problems and things just get worse for the average, every day, run of the mill no-life that was never bothering anyone to begin with. So maybe a solid definition of what a casual is would help. The game doesn't necessarily need to do all that much to attract the people that play it a lot anyways but many of those same people don't end up with very much when the focus is all on how much anyone plays or how many hours they work or kids they have.

2 AntwortenStory has absolutely nothing to do with player retention. Full stop. And I do not even have time to explain why I can not explain. It is the fact the game is old and boring because bungie pushed the seasonal approach instead of pushing each year with an expanding world per the core grind. Anything “new” is always hampered with “ok, now go do the same old stuff”. We all know why… even bungie… It just will take time to see what bungie will do now that they had been slapped and told to grow up instead of dreaming to be a major developer with tons of ips.

1 AntwortenI was running strikes earlier and it felt like blueberries were rez farming. There is a difficulty increase since the beginning of lightfall. Not disagreeing with your other points tho. This episode was terrible is so many ways

I left bc YAS sucks. Constant immunity phases, and the prismatic shield -blam!- in the campaign. Standing in a well bc I don't like the new subclass wasn't very engaging.

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von Kitchen Squishy: 9/17/2024 2:37:33 AMSpeak for yourself. Im tired of the sweeping generalizing *elitist takes* going around the Destiny community. You can't mask your bad opinion as highbrow and hard for others to comprehend and act like you've done something. You have an heir of superiority that makes you come off as smug and your post is very out of touch and tone def. Now theres no confusion.

Bearbeitet von Part Timer: 9/16/2024 9:14:28 PMThey're leaving because there's cheaters literally everywhere in pvp. We need a better way to report other players, naming exactly what they did and also giving names. This old system is -blam!- terrible. The fact that this is easily the worst PVP ever also doesn't help matters. The special system is terrible and gunfights are just non-existant. Either you die to an ability you couldn't predict or you come against the socialist youth firing squad.
