Man... screw invasions
Trying to play some Gambit today (my first mistake i know) for some engrams and holy moly, what a colossal cluster f*ck.
Keep matching the same exact guy every time. Every time primevil comes up, the mf starts invading every 30 seconds, one tapping everyone with leviathan's breath from across the map. Everytime we get a SLIVER of health off the boss... BOOM, back to full health. Primevil probably went back to full health like 5 times in a single match.
People have been asking bungie to rework the invasion mechanic, or at the very least tune the heavy ammo usage when invading for YEARS now. Has Bungie just completely forgotten this gamemode exists?

3 Antwortenthere should be a limit to the invasion mechanic. i really enjoy gambit but there are some players that ruin it. gambitnsweats are as bad if not worse than pvp sweats.

And invasions alone don't need a rework, but the team vs. team element in general, if invasions are too strong, it's oppressive if they're too weak it's pointless. It's never been balanced one way or the other. Getting deeper into that gambit is made for pvevp players, not pvp players and not pve, but ppl who want both, specifically at the same time, it's not a big audience and long term a failed experiment. Evidently, you aren't the target audience. At the very least gambit needed a weapon ban list, nobody wants gambit to throw it's hat into the ring of making pvp or pve worse because of it, but the full power of the pve sandbox in a pvp context is just the worst parts of both modes.

6 AntwortenWhat they should do, is create a purely Pve focused Gambit mode, where two teams of players race against each other to kill their Primevil first. In short, create a Gambit mode with invasions disabled, call it Pve Gambit, or Gambit Quickplay. While the default Gambit mode can be renamed Competitive Gambit or Pvp Gambit. And while this would dilute the matchmaking pools a bit, I'd be willing to bet that more of the Pve crowd would be willing to play Gambit daily if there was a way for them to ignore invaders.

1 AntwortenI still need that 1 triumph in Gambit, "protect the runner." Gambit used to have 2 rounds before, but with just 1 round now, it is a lot harder to get.

Bearbeitet von Dr Livingston 9: 9/15/2024 12:52:55 PMthe whole gambit game revolves around if your team can kill the invader. banking motes don't matter when even one kill dramatically heals the primeval. if you can kill the invader every time he comes over you win if you can't you lose. everything before that does not matter. the invader has too much power because they allow invasions every 30 seconds. each team should only be allowed 4 invasions. this makes the role of the invader less important. the invader has to actually use his brain and strategically know when to invade and if he screws up sorry you cant keep winning because you can invade well. you could even put a rule in that each person is only allowed one time to invade per game. this seems like common sense to me. you could bank all the motes so fast but it does not matter if you cant kill invader. also there are way too many health gates . the health gates happen when you are about to kill the priemevil. the losing team should not even get health gated. they should be allowed to catch up but the health gate prevents this a lot of the time. it prevents come backs.

The best way to play Gambit when u have your Primeval up and shielded is to not kill the last wizard when the invader invades. That way u still have a chance of doing great damage to the Primeval. Start killing the last Wizard when the invader returns to the other side.

1 AntwortenI honestly like gambit more than pvp. It’s not as sweaty as pvp and there are places I can hide from the invader so I don’t end up getting relentlessly killed. For me, heavy is a must as it kills the invader quickly. Sure it makes them mad sometimes. When you’re actively trying to kill every single person on the enemy team, and you see that one person hiding and you go to kill them, you deserve to be killed with heavy.

6 AntwortenThey appeared to acknowledge Gambit's existence in the recent updates. Maybe Gambit can get more "experimental" and try things like moving away from heavy or doing different things with invasions since it appears to really be hanging by a thread right now.

5 AntwortenI know there are people who don’t like Gambit at all but I do enjoy it specially where you dislike the invaders. I love it as it’s so funny to invade and kill bunch of enemy team and you can see they are so pissed and try to take revenge back and it goes both ways sometimes i face the same issue and it’s not nice but it’s what it is.

1 AntwortenYou'd have hated me in the Heir Apparent meta days. But, honestly. Invaders only spawn in certain places on each map. Back when I used to play Gambit more, I had these pretty down and could figure out quickly where a likely point of attack was. And hey, unless both Primevals are up and the opposing team is crunching through their's pretty speedily, there is absolutely no shame in hiding until the threat is passed, especially when the envoys are out and you aren't doing DPS anyway. Sure, you won't be damaging the Primeval, but you won't be letting the invader heal, either

I don't know who thought mixing pvp and pve was a good idea but the matches are always decided by who has thw better invader and I certainly don't enjoy having all my work gathering motes and killing primeval for nothing because some sweaty tryhard keeps invading. Not for me, sorry.

Bros complaining about Gambit just to complain. That's part of the mode bud. You try to Eff them over as much as you can. If nobody on your team is running anything to kill the invader and just tunnel vision-ing the boss, skill issue

Now everyone gets the same amount if heavy. It's 4 against 1. Each player on your team has the same amount of heavy as the invader and there is 4 of you vs the 1 invader. The are only 3 spots on each map where the invaders spawn.
