Older Age Guardians
Just wondering if I am among the oldest age Destiny players out there. I'm 78. I started to play during the Covid pandemic. And my clan - The Winky Dinks, of which I am the only member - is named for the oldest interactive electronic experience I could remember, the TV show in the 50s called Winky -blam!- and You.
If you are around my age, I'd really appreciate talking a bit for a survey I'd like to do on us older players. When did you start playing? Any changes in your eye-hand coordination or depth perception? (I often fall off a cliff during a jump, for example). Have you had to adapt tactics or strategy as you've aged? (For example, maybe you've exchanged melee for distance weapons). PVE or PVP? (I do PVE because I pretty much don't have the reflexes for PVP). What about focus and memory during the game? (I get lost on occasion, which messes up my fire team, for example).
On the other hand, I think playing D2 has helped my thinking and cognition by forcing me to deal with new situations, even if in an imaginary world.

1 AntwortenThere’s all kinds of studies that show the pros and cons of gaming. Obviously with age comes the pitfalls of things not being as good as they were. So at the same time things like your hand/eye coordination most likely has declined over the years, gaming has probably helped slow that process. This is probably the coolest post that I’ve read in a long time. Kudos to you and thanks for sharing.

2 Antworten55 years young not great at pvp as in reflex’s arent fast nowadays 🤪 if you need another Guardian to run with would gladly run with you I’m not much good at problem solving neither as in raids ( old raids ) I can do 👍

1 AntwortenGood on you. I've played since Destiny 1 came out. Wasn't interested in games until I saw that and it was must have it along with the PlayStation! I reckon it keeps the mind a bit sharper than it would be otherwise. I'm a little older than you. Would love to chat over Zoom or something like.

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von wilyolfox: 8/19/2024 1:34:21 PM72 here and I have played since almost from the very get go. Love the game, I deal with Parkinson’s which caused my right hand to have tremors (shakes) which makes doing dungeons and other activities near impossible but I plug along anyway.

1 Antworten54, definitely slower in PvP. For jumping puzzles, I rely on Lion Rampant boots on my Titan to fly and not fall (as much).

1 AntwortenI am too old to raid, since I am clumsy in jumping 😎. I am 70 and enjoying the game, on Tuesdays I play D1 during maintenance.

1 AntwortenI just turned 46, playing Destiny since 2014, prior to destiny I would only play once a year when the new assasins creed would come out or the new spiderman game Once I started Destiny I stopped playing other games and play almost daily They have brainwashed us with the sound frequencies utilized in the music and cinematic while floating in orbit, among other things

3 AntwortenA dude who used to carry me in Trials told me he also often carried a 90+ year old player. It's awesome you're still playing and finding it enjoyable. As a nearly 50 year old player, sometimes I assume I'm the oldest but my hat's off to you! And yeah, hard-eye coordination, eyesight, reaction times, etc. definitely decline with age. 😢 I've actually noticed a surprisingly high percentage of seasoned players. Bungie's noticed it too, and mentioned in recently, something about wanting to lower the average age of players by implementing changes to attract younger players... pretty discouraging, and probably a poor business decision as younger players typically have less money to squander on frivolous Eververse crap.
