I’ll get straight to the point. We all know that Ward of Dawn (WoD) has now been overshadowed in almost all scenarios by Well of Radiance. What’s the point of a shitty over-shield that’s made of paper due to nerfs from PvP when there’s another Super that’ll give constant healing for anyone that’s inside its aura? Even the -blam!- damage boost (Weapons of Light) is largely useless since Bungie nerfed it to be the same as Well during Shadowkeep (from 35% to 25%).
Because of this, I propose a few ideas that may allow people to consider using WoD again in PvE:
1. Raise the amount of Overshield you and your teammates can have from 45 HP to 100 HP. This buff can help you and your teammates to survive a little longer even in the toughest of endgame content and allows the “protector” fantasy to shine.
2. Allow WoD to still be on the field after the caster dies. I know that it says in the lore that Ward of Dawn is powered by the Titan themselves, but it still sucks MAJOR balls that if the Titan dies the rest of the team is screwed gameplay wise . It’s a video game at the end of the day, so it’s ok to take SOME creative liberties.
3. You know that exotic “Helm of Saint-14” that’ll give over-shield to allies when they (and the caster) pass through the Super? Can we combine the Overshield part to base WoD please? That’ll allow people to freely use the other Void exotics without feeling like they’re throwing the Nightfall. In its place, I propose this:
When you and your allies gain an Overshield, you’ll be granted Volatile Rounds for your Void weapons.
This will allow people the choice to build into Overshields to not only help the team survive but also allow them some offensive capabilities as well.
4. Give Weapons of Light back its original buff (35%). This’ll allow WoD to have a use in raid content again.
At the end of the day, WoD needs something to stand out from Well. It’s been almost powercrept completely out of the game while Well is almost mandatory in all forms of content. Something has to change, for better or worse.

2 AntwortenWhat if Helm of Saint 14 made you blind inside Ward of Dawn??
-
1 AntwortenWhile wearing helm of Saint-14 allow us to shoot through the bubble for a breif period that way nobody blows themselves up when a Titan pops bubble
-
Sounds good for pve
-
1 AntwortenAll of that sounds fun and awesome which is precisely why it won’t happen! If there’s one thing Bungie hates, it’s fun.
-
2 AntwortenThis only highlights one of the major issues with this game. There is no synergy between players/characters/subclasses… anymore. We used to have fun combining different characters and their respective buffs. Placing a bubble here or there, timing the next buff, or combining them, to see those boss health bars suddenly get hit. Now everything is so linearly boring. The marginal gains from building into niches are irrelevant except for day 1 twitch watching people who make money out of this game. The worst part of it all is that >95% of the people left and don’t even care to argue with the remaining <5% who are divided between ultra casuals, casuals, and try hard or the like sweats. The fun is gone, and even if some fans want to see, may be play, the end of the saga, Bungie ruined a fun game by consistently listening and catering to people who have no alternative than playing Destiny, whatever meta or the like changes, and trying to turn fun into some kind of linear professional BS.
-
no, you can’t, bungo already told you you can’t have fun and you’re too tenacious for this nerf nerf nerf, you have to play their game the way they want and not like you!!! everyone asked for an artifact with mods for stasis, they added it a year later and how do you like it? They don’t want you to decide what to do, you need to go along their laid out route and use the same one all year….
It wasn't just pvp that butchered ward of dawn. Quite simple, bubble placement was very important because depending on that, your raid dps phase would either go smooth or south. Rockets used to be the meta and blowing yourself up is way more likely with a bubble in the way compared to a well where it really doesn't matter much where you place it. The chance of dying is very minimal compared to bubble where you need 6 people walking in and out with explosive weapons on a singular spot. I welcome all pve buffs to helm of Saint 14. Well is just borderline a better choice, no brainer. The only one to disagree with well being better is Paul Tassi🤣

7 AntwortenHey man, have you heard a game called Helldivers 2. Try it out, it's really fun.
-
1 AntwortenThat seems like a LOT, but best of luck.

4 AntwortenI've been thinking more or less the exact same thing for ages now, except that instead of volatile rounds, my thought was that Helm could give an extra 10% weapon damage to Ward and the glaive's mini Ward, so that WoD has a way to get back its old 35% buff, but you have to build into it, and Helm would still have some synergy with the mini Ward. I feel like with Helm's overshield becoming default behaviour for WoD, it might be a bit too strong if the default weapon buff was 35%, plus Helm giving volatile rounds from ANY overshield might be a bit too strong as well.

2 AntwortenTo be clear, Well of Radiance has ALWAYS overshadowed Ward of Dawn in EVERY scenario.
-
4 AntwortenIt should be indestructable in pve imo. Combatants shooting the bubble creates orbs. Casting bubble should instantly regenerate all your abilities.
-
I'm not a Titan main, but I have spent a lot of hours on my Titan and I have to agree. Ward of Dawn is garbage. You absolutely MUST wear Helm of St 14 to have any survivability outside of the bubble, and you can't do any damage to anything while inside, so basically it's just a "sit and heal" garbage super. It's only serviceable as a slightly stronger barricade if you put it down and just run around behind it as partial cover while trying to kill some of the enemies. It's completely overshadowed by not just Well, but by a solar Titan with Lorelei Splendor. In D2 it's only good for one thing. Control. Even that is negated by an enemy Titan simply walking in and setting a barricade.
-
2 AntwortenI'd like Helm to have a special "Headbutt" melee, making it great neutral exotic.

15 AntwortenBearbeitet von BabyMoonArt: 3/4/2024 9:22:15 AMDude, Ward of Dawn is actually better than Well. First, in PVP you're not exposed in Ward, it'll cost at least a shutdown to kill it. Second, I do actually think it needs a rework, but not because it's underperforming. I'll explain that later. Now in PVE it can but you a shitton of time even in high difficulty content. If my barricade has only (was it 500 or 600?)HP, then imagine how powerfun Ward is considering Barricade literally allowed me to solo flawless a master lost sector while 25 below recommended power. How? I'd slug a champion with my Throwing Hammer, blast them with Heir Apparent allthewhile the other one is shredding against my barricade with his minigun to no avail. If that's barricade's power, just imagine how much damage (it was either 6,000 or 8,000)HP on your Ward can tank. It used to be even higher. 13,500 I believe, correct me if I'm wrong. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but you can actually take the Ward of Dawn weapon buff outside of the bubble. This is why if some Warlock started going on about how the Well of Radiance is a "necessary part of DPS" I'd kick them immediately. Healing is irrelevant when the boss will just kick you off the map for not moving. Even then, DPS wise anybody would be better off using just straight radiance. Bubble, though? Sure! I'll let you in. Maybe... I haven't tested that buff against radiance yet. Edit: forgot to explain the buff I was thinking about. Hold on... Tap activate to drop a Ward of Dawn at your feet. Hold activate to charge your ward and toss it into the fray. Ward of dawn weakens enemies while granting an overshield, damage resistance, and volatile rounds to all who pass through. Helm of Saint-14 would get a total overhaul. Ward of dawn recharges faster while you have an overshield(50% in PVE, 10% in PVP). The bubble also doubles in size and suppresses enemies. Edit 2: Apparently anybody at max resilience has easily 600HP While inside Ward of Dawn. Believable with the overshield and the armor of light, so there's that...

Be careful what you wish for. Born to Nova, forced to well
-
The annoying part is that most of these are things it just used to do. It used to have a better overshield and damage buff, and it didn’t require helm in d1. Honestly, support sentinel overall used to be much better than it is now.
-
I might be a Hunter but I fully agree with point 2 all of the way It seems so weird that Warlocks don’t lose Well of Radiance when they die but Titans lose Ward of Dawn
-
5 AntwortenI disagree with the rework to helm of saint 14 because it would kill my edge of action build
-
It definitely needs to be almost indestructible, with only bosses being able to break it Buff Armor of Light HP in PvE to what it was before the nerf Weapons of Light imo always has been a very bad implementation, it contrasts badly with the identity of Ward; Ward should be the ultimate defensive super you need to use for tanking/holding a point or a place or whatever, it doubling as a weapon boost feels weird and always felt off with me
-
2 Antworten1. We must have the same mindset because that EXACT buff for helm of Saint 14 is what I've tried suggesting in the past!! 2. I thought the overshield we get from standing inside the ward is already 100 hp? I must have missed that. 3. I was recently thinking of another buff to ward similar to the remote shield glaive ability; while you have weapons of light active you get increased weapon handling, stability, range, reload, and flinch resistance. A bit of a stretch but I think this would definitely help Ward of Dawn compete with Well of Radiance.
-
2 AntwortenAsking for a titan buff, good luck
-
9 AntwortenI think it should also let you blind nearby enemies when you guard with the titan exotic glave. This would match the blinding effect when you guard with banner shield.
