Hot Take: Having Gambit, Crucible, Iron Banner and Trials offer the same amount of loot for wins or losses would make the game modes more appealing to more players.

With the exceptions for challenges like Trials Flawless Cards and Win Streak Multiers which I still believe are good for the game I feel like having equal loot for the match itself regardless of outcomes would definitely both help with the modes population and allow players to play with friends casually without running the risk losing progress with loses. A lot of feedback related to this topic is centered on the desire to play modes that PvP or PvEvP in Gambit's case without having the issue of a lengthened grind. Due to how matchmaking has changed over the years I pretty much just expect to lose while playing with friends, and if I'm actually trying to accomplish something there's a large incentive towards just playing alone. On the whole I actually don't mind losing a game, but the constant forfeit loot kills any kind of grind

  • So what would be the reward for winning? If there's no incentive to win, there's no incentive to try. Flawless cards only pertain to one specific mode and win streaks only serve to give you rep. Do you think more rep alone is a good enough reward for success? I personally don't, but i'd be willing to listen to the argument for it. What if they just guaranteed A drop for everyone and winners get an extra one?

  • Yuh. No matter what, every single person in that lobby puts in work, unless they're AFK, and the worst players put in the most effort, just to try and keep up. So why close off the loot further? People always equate it to participation trophies, which I can understand, but games are supposed to be specifically about fun so it shouldn't matter who does what and how. There is a variety to let people choose. Some do one thing, others do everything. Some are good at one thing, some are good at everything. As long as players put in the time, there should be something worthwhile at the end of the activity, win or lose. People are obsessed with their tracked stats anyway. Why do people need all the extra comparison? Where does it help anyone? Games really need to be developed more on value for time and effort, instead of trying to separate between who's better or worse. People will always find a way to impose some pointless hierarchy without the extra encouragement anyway. These "skills" don't apply anywhere in the real world, so everyone is at crazy odds for some worthless nonsense. We're all getting the same crap anyway, no matter how much time we put in. Stick with it long enough and its bound to happen. There isn't a point to gaming beyond killing time, really, so make it worth the time.

          Yes agreed. Just add some progress at least in some regards. The winners do not need adept weapons.. that only could widen the skill gap and promotes cheating/carries (disgusting). Everyone gets the engram and an RNG chance at whatever they want to spend it on as long as they progress. If you verify completions via some metric like in Trials KD or KDA then you get the exclusive rewards.. but those are not anything to do with widening the skill gap.. titles/emblems/ornaments..etc that could become truly meaningful. You increase participation and now only the committed to excellence will go the whole way.

          • So people should be encouraged to be lazy? To be mediocre? To actually want a participation trophy? Should raids give the same loot on an incompletion?
