Anyone who thinks it’s too strong just look below.
Retrofit escapade with Actium and target lock with well of radiance gets just under 500k damage on the 10 second Templar dps phase. Target lock adds an average of 33% when maximizing with boss spec. That means retrofit deals around 375k damage in 10 seconds with target lock adding around 125k damage.
Thunder lord with Actium and well of radiance gets just under 530k on Templar. If you add 33% to Thunder lord”s damage you get 705k.
Xenophage with Actium and well gets just under 490k damage. After adding 33% it’s just over 650k in a 10 second period.
Hot head with a well and explosive light gets just under 620k not counting wolf pack rounds. Wolf pack rounds add another 60-70k (very inconsistent). For a total of 690k on the generous side.
G horn with well gets just under 650k and can buff other rockets.
Two tailed fox with well can get to almost 700k damage but requires reload strategies.
When you consider that rockets are significantly easier to use, can use auto loading holster (lets you deal more damage while rocket gets automatically reloaded) and the increased investment and skill provided. The extra 5k damage the Thunder lord would provide over a basic legendary rocket (hot head) is minimal at best.
People have made a good point on mentioning Grand overture since it does really good damage itself. However it’s damage comes almost exclusively from the missile mode and since they pop up on the side of your screen as an extra firing mode, bungie could simply make target lock not apply to that mode. The regular missiles deal pretty horrible damage so I don’t that’s of any concern when considered by itself.
The damage numbers are taken from an aztecross damage video.
The target lock damage numbers are taken from someone else’s research online. In that research target lock and Actium added an extra 33% damage over a 22 second period. Since target lock scales up over time, that means that the added damage would actually be a lower percentage over a 10 second period. I used the inflated numbers to demonstrate that even with inflated numbers, the best machine gun only gets 5k more damage than a legendary rocket with explosive light and Wolfpack.
Sweet business gets just under 205k damage with well of radiance and Actium. If it had target lock that would bump it up to 272k over 10 seconds.
As far as pvp goes I’m not aware of a case where target lock charges a ttk value. If that was a problem, Actium could just add dynamic sway inside pvp.

2 AntwortenBros made 9 posts and has been proven wrong on every single one 🤡🤡 How many times do people need to tell you that machine guns will be too strong if Actium war rig gets target lock?

3 AntwortenBungie all ready stated that their design philosophy for LMG's is to be great ad clear weapons. With that said holding down a trigger takes far less skill and effort than juggling special weapon swaps, grenade spam, and rockets.

4 AntwortenMate it's still a complete joke of a post. I already don't want to see this just for the sheer reason of PvP. I don't want to hear 6 titans use this with sweet business and go BRRRRRRRRR and melt everything in site. It's a complete joke. Now for getting damage numbers on templar that's a joke in itself because it's an old raid these days 6 people with thunderlord can already 1 phase nezerac which is saddening adding target lock will just make it even more stronger which is not even needed.
