I heard they’re being brought back by scientists. Thoughts? 🤔

6 AntwortenIs it interesting? Sure. Is it worth the likely hundreds of millions of dollars that it will take to do so? No. There is so much else that NEEDS to be done for the well being of mankind that endeavors like this, as well as going back to the moon or sending more roving robots to Mars - though cool, still make me saddened at the state of how little we care about those who need help just to survive. I'd much rather see the effort and money go toward curing cancers of all sorts, water purification / desalinization, way more help with mental disorders, Alzheimer's, dementia,... the list is seemingly endless.

We had an entire movie series about this, ffs.

What do they taste like? That’s a lot of meat.

I think it would be cool and it can be useful for the environment and who knows instead of a Jurassic World full of dinosaur,we can get a park full of ice age animals and one I want to see is the ground sloth

Yes, this is absolutely what we need to focus on in the science world. Nothing else is more pressing-all funds must go towards the fuzzy elephants. -
3 AntwortenI only support it if I get one as a pet.

The idea is to edit Mammoth DNA and splice it with stem cells with Elephant DNA in a living Elephant. Eventually through genetic alteration and breeding they could achieve creating something with mostly Mammoth DNA until we have something with 100% Mammoth DNA. Mad science and genetic engineering, you don't need cloning...

did they forget why they went extinct to begin with?
-
Because we've never seen that movie before...

An actual wooly mammoth or a hybrid animal? I didn't think cloning actual mammoths was possible. Either way, cool.
