Content creators benefitting and the game being catered directly to them is not the same thing. If you watched Dattos' admittedly elitist take video and came away thinking he wants you to be like him, idk what to tell you. The point of the video was the changes aren't going to be anywhere remotely as bad as the reaction to them has been and he's right. People will see on Tuesday that this difficulty spike isn't at all close to what this community is currently making it out to be. lol We've got clowns on this forum (not you) thinking it's going to be Dark Souls level difficult. Like unironically. It's pure insanity.

  • I think a lot of casuals were turned off by the difficulty (with no choice for "normal") of the last campaign mission. At least, that's why I have been on the forums the last week or so. I literally had no reason to come here and complain before then. But, that, coupled with the fact that Bungie intends on ramping up the difficulty, has made people very leery. In fact, I've seen at least 3 people commenting on these forums that if we didn't like the last campaign mission, then we're going to hate Lightfall. And, then they laugh at the casuals being noobs. So, part of it really has to do with a confluence of events here, and possibly some misinformation. I saw one person today, for the first time, saying that the campaign will have more than one difficulty in Lightfall. I hope they're correct. But, did Bungie ever once put the fears of casuals at ease? Did they ever once let us know that we'd have a "normal" option for the Lightfall campaign? No. But, they did make the last campaign mission this season unnecessarily difficult, and told us Lightfall would be more difficult. What are people expected to think with all of this information, and no assurance that casuals could still enjoy the game? So, regardless of who is right, this is why people are reacting this way. One little paragraph from Bungie assuring us would go a long way to curb the complaints.

  • I don't have a good or nice way to express my actual opinion on anyone who thought that last mission was too hard but Im guessing you can infer from context and you'd probably at least be in the ballpark lol. Not to laugh or look down upon lesser skilled gamers, im no God myself, but that mission really wasn't that hard solo and with a team, it was a brisk walk at worst. And yes, the Lightfall campaign will have the same amount of difficulty options Witch Queen did. Regular (which will now be hero) and Legend. And we know the WQ legend campaign numbers were great-they told as much-which is probably a large factor that lead to the difficulty spike. I don't think there's a single thing short of lining the strikes with teddy bears and butterflies that would ease the minds of some of these people. The ONLY thing that's going to do it is them getting into the content and realizing it's not that deep and it's still not going to be all that difficult. A paragraph from Bungie would only further get torn to shreds and yield more posts like the one above. They're doing the right thing by just waiting for people to actually play it, especially when we have less than a week until that happens.

Well, then that's part of the problem. Even if you didn't have a problem with the last mission, there are a lot of people that did, and that's where those folks are coming from. If it *is* going to be that difficult, then a lot of people are just going to give up, even if you thought it was a piece of cake. So, basically, if someone is saying, no, it wasn't too hard, when it clearly was for many people, then they won't understand why people are complaining. The only thing I really agree with here is that we won't know until the DLC drops. I've been trying to temper my feelings about what's coming because of that. But, if it is, as a baseline, at the same level as the last mission, people are going to come to these forums in droves complaining about it. I hope that's not the case because I think there's room for all skill levels when Bungie has proven they're capable of having different difficulties time and time again. They're actually kinda good at that, and I like to give props where they're deserved. So, here's hoping. (Also, it doesn't help when Bungie refuses to allow matchmaking on Legendary difficulty. On the one hand, people will complain that matchmaking will make it too hard because of who you get stuck with. But, if that's the case, then that's an admission that there is some skill difference for whatever reason. It's like, you can't really say it's not hard but then say matchmaking brings in people that find it too hard. )
