just tryna wrap my head around the reasoning for such a difference between legend & master LS. As a under powered Titan, I didn’t think I’d stand a chance against master difficulty. But thanks to YouTube I found the right build and cleared 3 master runs. To no exotic, I have enchantment cores to thank. Though the slap in the face occurred right afterward when I decided to run a legend and dropped a pair of second chances. why such a disparity between both modes if the one you’ll work harder for has trash drops. I’d say avoid Master difficulty, but this is my first time even passing one and hopefully you all have a much better “luck” than I. (also it seems like the NPC began to learn & adjust to you each run). great

2 AntwortenWhy Exotic in quotes tho?

1 AntwortenI think Master was around a 5% increase in drop rate according to some community testing. I think it was around 20% for Legend and 25% for Master. I almost always do Legend because it's usually faster unless you get one of the really quick Lost Sectors.

If you’re unable to quickly, easily, and efficiently clear and farm Master then your best bet is Legend. However Master is definitely better for drop rates if you can. At the end of the day it is RNG and some days you’ll farm with more success while others are much less fruitful. I can say though that my personal experience has always been that Master is the better option. Especially when certain LS’s can easily be under two minute runs. The definition for “common” that Bungie has may not be as common as we expect but at least we have the ability to target farm exotic armour. If they removed our ability to do so and reverted all exotic armour back to random world and endgame activity drops the same people who complain about their RNG would be complaining even more about that lol (which I’m not saying you’re doing). All in all though whichever difficulty you can clear fastest is definitely your best bet because more clears means more chances at drops regardless of rates.

Master is the better option overall if you find a lost sector that's quick to smash through, but you can still have bad streaks. Honestly the whole farming lost sector thing is just boring by now. Add to that you can't target loot, so if you get a crap version of the current season exotic, you can then get literally any exotic drop in that slot going forward. I spammed many, many hours trying to get a new calibans hand (because the first one I got made trash look good) in that season it came out and ended up with duplicates and triplicates of a bunch of old exotics. Total waste of time. Thing is, Bungie see that as 'engaging play' because players spend time doing it, so it muuuuuuussssst be fun, right? Also the NPCs do not learn. They will do the same thing over and over each and every run.

Kinda wish they’d put more of a guarantee on it, like “every 5 runs you are gonna get an exotic” That’s what doing public events back in y1 was like.
-
i just run master for the triumphs, drops legend is better at least on my experience.
-
Yeah, when I learned there was no difference in drop rate or quality I gave up masters forever.
-
What’s crazy is I spent a good chunk of time last season trying to Talibans Hand on master and never got it. This season I run helmet and chest lost sectors on legend and I get the new exotics first run. Crazy

Legend is 25%, Master is 33%. If you can do a legend at the same time as a Master, then it’s better to do Master. But because your highly likely to gain nothing from finishing it, I would suggest to go for NF double drops weekend. There are more exotics in the loot pool but at least you gain something from it.

Common is a super vague term that doesn't really correlate to any percentage chances or anything.
-
It's really not, chances are just a bit higher than legend, and it depends how fast you clear it. I don't run them often but in my experience they drop within 5 runs(legend) at least they do for me
-
I don't think our definition of common and Bungies are the same.
-
Another day, another guardian upset over exotic lost sectors I’m so glad I don’t waste my time of those anymore
-
it's 25 in legend and 33 in master those are the number if d2 has rng base, which it doesn't, when you run too much eventually you get nothing after they harvest enough playtime from you, or the day before kings fall day1 ppl were grinding all day for Loreley Splendor and titans would get literally a pair of ever other helmets before it drops
-
6 AntwortenI’m pretty sure it’s time based. Every time I do a master under 5 min I get the exotic I want.
-
Common means for commoners or peasants. Are you loyal subject of the Queen?
-
If you spend enough time farming a lost sector, the rewards eventually turn off entirely. I've been farming it for hours and hours and my last 5 or 6 runs have awarded absolutely nothing, not even glimmer or planetary materials

Someone on Reddit ran like 500 of each difficulty a while back and posted the results. Your odds of an Exotic drop from Legend are roughly 1/5 and from Master, 1/3. So basically, unless your Power is high enough that you can blow through Master, just stick to Legend. The droprate doesn't increase enough to be worth the extra hassle unless you're leveled, geared, and skilled to the point where both difficulties feel the same.

2 AntwortenThe general rule of thumb is to ignore master & grind legend for exotics, unless you're one of those people that can clear the master version in like 5 minutes or less.
