Champions are Archaic at this point
We now have access to all of our 3.0 subclasses. Tons of amazing builds showcasing the love and attention that Bungie has put into making these all feel fun and interesting to play. All working with different exotics and even pulling some out of retirement from my vault in order to shine like never before.
Now the problem is when I try to do anything with Champions. Suddenly, I need to take apart pieces of my build to equip an unoptimized weapon that is slow to reload due to no reload mods. Also it doesn't even work with my subclass in any way because of the restriction of only certain weapon types each season to deal with Champions.
Bungie, for the love of all that is holy! Please get rid of Champions. I'm sick of dealing with them. They aren't difficult to handle in any way. You just stun them, then melt them into the dirt. They are a non-issue; until you'd like to run a build without the pre selected weapons that can stun them. Suddenly they're an insurmountable road block. All because you want to use a different set of weapons.
I can only hope that these new Pyramid Ship Mini Bosses that you'll be introducing with Lightfall will be taking their place since we can't have the Lucent Hive showing up everywhere lore-wise.
I have so many builds made and saved to have fun with, and the only place they can shine currently, is in Dungeons.
If I try to do Solo Lost Sectors, I'm roadblocked by Champions. If I want to run a Nightfall with friends, I'm restricted to subpar weapon choices that don't match what I want to use, and push the gameplay back into 2018 territory, which in my eyes was some of the most stale it had ever been.
We have all these amazing subclasses and new exotics. Let us use them.

2 AntwortenSo what you’re saying is that champions are a challenge you can’t beat so remove them because they’re to hard in hard content. You know those things you’re complaining about aren’t supposed to be a cake walk like you want them to be, right? You know they’re supposed to limit weapon choice to force you to have more flexible skill? You k ow that if the weapons you’re using are subpar then either you need to get more weapons or you aren’t good enough with the weapons for the content?

They offer challenge through mechanics otherwise it’s blue gun for blue shield. Don’t complain and try to get the game nerfed for everyone else. Removing champion mods from gauntlets would be a good solution but you’re so emotional you would rather ruin everyone else’s experience. Think about what I’m saying.

A small update could go a long way, such as adding a third champion type per race. You could have them rotate each season. For example: fallen could have overload and barrier this season, and barrier and unstop next season, etc. Unstoppable Heavy Shank Overload Wizard Unstoppable Hydra Overload Centurion Barrier Taken Acolyte Barrier Raider Just as some ideas. I like adding just special extra powerful units like the light bearers in the Lightblade nightfalls as champions. Maybe add a few of those per enemy race or something.

4 AntwortenI don't really care about build limiting, I just think Champions are boring as -blam! after so many seasons. Maybe mix it up a little huh Bungie? Maybe a Champion that if not taken down quickly enough wipes the fireteam in a nuclear fireball? A Super energy leeching Champion, a suppressor Champion, something, anything new at this point. PS You're welcome for the FREE ideas.

Agreed taking the champion mods off weapons, and putting them on armor was just another stupid choice by Bungie. Put extra mod slots on guns and let us deal with champions how we want to

might be just me but ive been calling for this for a while now can we just go back to the d1 nightfall system ? it was way better, more simple, more fun and gave you more liberty either that or make actual minibosses for each faction I love hive guardians cuz they will kill you no matter teh difficulty if you dont pay attention

I love champions but I think they were implemented incorrectly.

Champions are a clever way to “increase difficulty” (like having an unstoppable ogre appear when you least expect it the first time you run master wellspring) and changing up the weapons you have to use against them js considered “new content.” Easy win-win for Bungie. Who cares if the players hate champions?

Anybody who believes Champions are fine are delusional and bias to mediocracy. This is a video game. It should be improving, enhancing and making every experience different in some sense or form and not creating a simulation of some repetitive yet settled complex. Champions will always be a tone deaf system designed for players who dont want to see the game reach its potential.

Worst than champions for me is the part of the lightfall reveal where they said they were gonna mess about with the legendary difficulty for the campaign. Something that was universally praised from WQ, but they just can't take a win, they have to mess about with -blam!-. To tie it in with this post, it'll probably just be a master difficulty with champions.

I think its time for champion mods to stop being removed at the end of sessions if all the champions r in the game every session we should be able to use all the champion mods every session as for exotics i think its time bungie start droping new rng exotic armor in strikes night falls and gambit and leting xer sell new exotic armor and guns last time we got exotics new exotics droping in strikes night falls gambit or xer was be4 beound light for a lot of people the best part of geting a new exotic is grnding for it with your friends for me the best part of geting a new exotic was doing it with my gf but now we r forcest to do it solo bungie needs to stop trying to make every thing as hard as it can and go back to just makeing it fun its no fun for a player who is not a solo player to have to solo we need change

Now that we have dedicated Exotics for champions and the seasonal "debuff" mods they give us basically let you 1 shot them, I don't really mind Champions all that much anymore. I still hate them and think they're stupid and all.

1 AntwortenI've been arguing this since champions first appeared and it also caused me to step back from a lot of the content I played in this game. SIR WOW stated we want you to play how you choose to play then the very next season introduced champions. At this point getting rid of them would probably break everything, so why not just allow us to put whatever mode we want on the weapon we choose.

Overload: rapid primary shots will stun them(overload through sheer volume of shots) Barrier: Break shields with special ammo(pop the bubble with burst damage) Unstoppable: Stun them with heavy weapons(only the strongest weapons can stop them in their tracks) Just a thought on how it will still take a certain “tactic” to deal with them without constantly restricting load outs.
