If you're gonna mention how the need to make bigger maps just don't bother because that not going to happen and certainly not enough to make a big impact.
Hand cannons should not even be in the same league of range as the likes of a slow fire rate messenger pulse but they are.
No one weapon should have it all, range, hard hitting flinch, peek shooting, in air accuracy. Something has to go and I say range.

It's not even worth your time making these posts because even if you are right...a large percentage of people are going to ignore it and just downvote your post. I like handcannons myself, but I'm not blind to why everyone uses them. People like to make this crap up like "oh they are a skill weapon 😎" but the true reality of any competitive game is that people use what's most EFFECTIVE AND EASY to get results with, not what takes the most time and effort, aka skill. And that's not me saying that they are easy, because some handcannons SUCK to use, but the top tier handcannons like ace of spades, palindrome, igneous, etc basically aim for you and their results reflect onto usage. "On pc there isn't any aim assist." Aim assist is not necessarily the issue here, although the stat itself DOES play into the issue. The issue is that handcannons have a wider cone in which bullets will bend to hit the target, in an effort to, and I quote, "[make them easier to use] (bungie)." Because it definitely WOULD be more difficult to land shots at a distance on a lower zoom weapon that has to hit crits for optimal capabilities, but that directly translates into WHY they are so strong, because its grossly overtuned now that we have a better handling on the game COMPARED to when the game initially released. Do I want them to adjust this, I mean i honestly don't know. They are fun to use and i can't blame people that enjoy using them, but there's just so many layers to them that make them strong and this is a big part of the reason why.

Bearbeitet von Knifykat: 4/20/2022 12:06:54 AMi honestly think hand cannons lack range.. considering they are a cannon, you can shoot down a full range with a hand cannon in real life.. but yes they do need to balance the risk/reward balance of hand cannons they feel imbalanced i just can't define it, and having big maps would be sooo good! imaging snipers actually performing their roles??? and shotguns/fusions being almost useless. we can dream.. we can dream because i feel in a large map, current hand cannon range won't be too big of an issue what i would like to see is more fast hand cannons with lower impact and range but more ammo and speed (edit: i know sidearm exist but i want it to feel like a cannon not a water pistol)

LoL the Messenger isn’t a long range Pulse. It has a low zoom value. Which as of now= lower ranges. Legal Action can reach MUCH FURTHER HC Range is fine. Most of your HC aren’t max range 36m Most are between 32-34. And have very steep Damage Falloff. If they cut HC range by 10 it would absolutely kill the weapon type. Now if you want to knock down the AA of HC I’m good with that. Go ahead. Decrease them by 10-20. Fine by me. Or the in air accuracy, ok I’m good with that too. But there are other outliers such as Some SMG’s can currently reach 30 meters. That’s an Auto rifle… Rapid fire pulses absolutely melt HCs RN at the same ranges.

Messenger is also kind of an outlier, it has very low zoom. Look at Legal Action: 44m base, over 50 if you invest into range. Whereas most hand cannons are lucky to get 34m.

A freaking revolver because thats what they really are goes further than a rifle, that alone is why I will never respect the pvp balance team at bungie. Those guys clearly have never used a weapon in their lives. Oh and before someone mentions how its a scifi game or whatever, doesn’t that mean auto rifles should be miles better too? For an auto rifle to have the exact same range as a hand cannon and majority of the time, less range. I find it funny how they shoot marshmallows, shouldn’t a scifi space magic auto rifle be more lethal? Haven’t you guys noticed how some of the most lethal weapons in the game happen to be yee haw weapons? Idk about you guys but its clear to me space magic is not a priority

You do know any scout/pulse rife/ sub machine gun best they every time. Hand Cannon take skill and u have to hit ur shots unless u have exploding rounds then which your pretty good but u still get out dps by anything that fires quick

Also you cannot denounce maps as not a solution for the problem you are dealing with especially with them never being a solution for a sandbox change. It isnt like you are getting killed by every single Hand Cannon in the game. It is the ones with the best perks and best stats that are clear outliers. Guarantee it is: Palindrone, Fatebringer, Eyasluna and any exotic Kinect Hand Cannon. The top Hand Cannons have over 70+ aim assistance and when you add the Enhanced Hand Cannon Targeting mod from the Artifact, it probably max the weapons out. Bringing the aim assistance down by 20 points would even them out with 120s and make precision more of a skill than an ease of use. However with that change, Pulse Rifles would become META immediately. Scout Rifles would definitely need a handling buff for sure. Reload need to be uncapped for sure. Check d2gunsmith for reference to info.

If you’re gonna argue 140s at least use facts… If a 140 is “competing” against a Pulse. The PULSE is the one in Handcannon range and not the other way around. Every single pulse in this game outranges the hell out of HCs. There just aren’t enough maps around that let them play their range. This is easy to see in maps like Eternity…

Small Bore, Ricochet Rounds, Quick Draw, Range Finder, Range Master Work, Adept Icarus Grip. This allows for 37m range before drop off occurs with a optimal ttk maintained at 39m. To any theory crafters as to why this roll is better is because hammer forged adds no range benefit as well as capping out at I believe it was 40m with fullbore + adept range mod. Which has some fairly large draw backs for a 3m gain. 65 stability and poor in air accuracy vs 80 stability and perfect in air accuracy. Hawkmoon and Eyasluna come in at around 35m with range finders(excluding para-causal stacks from HM). But this is very an average pulse rifle, top tier picks can get into the 50m range area.
