Weapon crafting was a great idea. It could have made Destiny into something great.
The execution was simply horrible.
What Bungie has done it taken something that could have been fun and gave a new dimension to the game and made into something that is boring and simply not fun.
Locking a quest behind an RNG drop for a RNG version of a weapon. Hours and hours of play and nothing. Me and my fireteam, several content creators on YouTube, Twitch and others for 100s of hours total, and still no Deepsight version of the weapon we need for a quest.
Not only have to spend 100s of hours once, but 3 total times farming these EXTREAMLY elusive drops for each character.
Then there is the BLATANT lie that was told for the release of Witch Queen, that you could reshape your weapons, tailoring them for activities. Lie.
Watch the trailer, watch the streams for the release. When they show the reshaping, there are now material cost for changing the perks. In reality, it is FAR MORE EXPENCIVE to reshape a weapon then when we made it.
This will lead to one and only one thing.
Weapon crafting is a season long quest that will be done for the completion of other quests and WILLNOT be used to make our dream weapons. We will simply do the grind long enough to get the patterns for the things we have to make to get done with quests, then the forge will go cold.
Not worth the grind, not worth the time, and DEFINATLY not worth the hype.
Weapon crafting in Destiny . . . MAJOR fail.
If the drop rate changes, on patterns and alloy, which is just as bad as the Deepsight weapons, the community will simply ignore this aspect and rely on world drop RNG to get the god rolls we what.
World drop will be faster, more fun, and a better investment in time for a game that is already a grind house.

Once I saw the ridiculous costs associated with crafting, and to reshape, I stopped doing it. There is no reason for the system to be that way. Why not just be: pick your weapon, your frame, your initial perks, and then here you go. Level it up to 10 and all perks are unlocked and you can mix and match as you see fit. Zero cost to change. That is weapon crafting to me, not this system they have.

Just another grind masked as a benefit. Bungie will never do anything for the player...don't forget it.

They screwed up implementing the materials economy for weapon crafting. Hopefully they realize this and make some good adjustments soon.
