Sure.
What about sentient AI like rasputin. It has emotions so could it be taken?

I feel like genuine life is a requirement of Taking. Rasputin is still ultimately just an AI. He’s just a really, really advanced one. Unless there is some sort of equivalent of the Logic Plague in the Destiny universe.
-
how are dead enemies taken though?
-
If you’re dead, there is no will or life to corrupt.
-
some enemies we have killed have been resurrected and taken somehow, like the bosses in The Whisper mission for example. Urzok is Hive so I'll assume he can easily be rebirthed, but Valus Tu'aurc, and Drevis (silent fang)? Tu'aurc died on Mars, so if Hive necromancy somehow works on other species, that makes sense considering they were all Taken by Xol, but Drevis died on Earth, and why would an insignificant captain that died a long time ago be rebirthed and Taken? I'm definitely missing something, because this even happened in D1 with the reprised TTK/RoI strikes where some bosses were reborn and Taken, though that could just be a continuity error
-
It’s easy to chalk those up to either retcons or we didn’t necessarily technically kill them. I mean, look at Taniks.
-
Its not really sentient. At the end of the day, it's still just a really smart machine. If oryx cant take servitors, he cant take rasputin.

primevil meatball would like to have a word with you

The Chimera/Primeval Servitor is, quite clearly, a lot more than just a servitor. The

Its a taken servitor
-
Servitor’s don’t have meat, dawg. It’s a lot more than a servitor. “Chimera” implies that it’s more than one thing.
-
The Takenness added meat

That’s not how that works at all.

Hive knights don't shoot flames from their eyes

Being taken provides abilities, yes. But it doesn’t completely overhaul something’s physical make up. A psion still looks exactly like a psion. A knight, s Knight. Etc. They don’t have fundamentally different appearances outside of being shadowy lmao. Chimeras look vastly, VASTLY different from Servitors. They are much more than servitors.

There’s this but I wouldn’t call it a reliable source. https://www.destinypedia.com/Chimera

-
what says its a chimera?
-
Because the last story boss in forsaken was one. Logic says that the one in gambit is the same thing. And that logic applies to every single other primeval in gambit.
-
nothing says that's a chimera, but a malfeasance quest step calls it an "ascendant primeval servitor"
-
it's a servitor fused into something else. Clearly servitors do not have a meaty face, a large mouth filled with rows of teeth, and they also they don't have tentacles
-
Can you show me that?
-
idk how to upload images sry, try checking the quest step on a character that still has that step
-
Probably it was just wording. Really, why would a servitor be that... meaty?
